How do we follow that?!

Answer: we can’t.

Rory McIlroy’s dramatic triumph at the 2025 Masters was one for the ages, the final day at Augusta National arguably one of the greatest in major championship history.

Perhaps Rory had a feeling as, despite this week’s RBC Heritage being a big-money Signature Event, he decided to scrub it from his schedule at the start of the year.

It’s just as well. McIlroy fully deserves to decompress and take it all in after becoming just the sixth male player in history to win golf’s Grand Slam.

But most of the PGA Tour’s big guns do make the 150-mile drive from Augusta to Hilton Head in South Carolina and they include World No.1 Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler was on an incredible run this time last year, victory at this event giving him a fourth win in five starts (the other was a second!) a week after he’d claimed his second Green Jacket.

But 2025 has been a different story and he returns to defend without a win in seven starts this season.

A total of 56 golfers who played The Masters, including runner-up Justin Rose, form the majority of the 72-man field.

Harbour Town Golf Links is a Pete Dye-designed par 71, measuring 7,213 yards and has narrow fairways and small greens.

Timing looks right for Sungjae Im

A good rule of thumb with this event is to back a player who did well at Augusta last week but didn’t over-exert themselves.

So how about a bet on South Korean Sungjae Im, who finished in the top five at The Masters but was never in contention at any point.

Im has a habit of playing well the week after a major and boasts recent course form here of 12-7-21-13.

He likes Pete Dye designs and looks a good bet at 40/1 each-way (1/5 odds, 6 places) with Paddy Power.

Sepp Straka to beat Robert MacIntyre in match bet

Both Sepp Straka and Robert MacIntyre missed the Masters cut but it’s the Austrian who can bounce back best this week so I’ll back him in a 72-hole match bet at 5/6 with bet365.

Straka ranks 2nd only to McIlroy in the FedEx Cup standings this year after a superb season so far which has brought him a win at The American Express (on another Pete Dye track) and six other top 15s.

That fine run took a knock at The Masters but only after a 5-7 finish in round two when he was all set to record one of the best Friday scores of the day.

MacIntyre was also in good nick before his early Augusta exit but when it comes to course form, there’s a big difference between this pair.

The Scot was 59th on his only appearance while Straka has been third and fifth in two of his last three starts at Harbour Town.

🏌️‍♂️Bet Sepp Straka to beat Robert MacIntyre in a 72-hole match bet at 5/6 with bet365 ⛳

Harris English for Top 10

Harris English was a fast-finishing 12th at The Masters and can nudge up a couple of spots and claim a Top 10 here at 6/1 with Betfred.

A winner at Torrey Pines earlier this season, English is hitting his irons well and has some solid course form too.

🏌️‍♂️Bet Harris English for a Top 10 finish at 6/1 with Betfred  ⛳
