Form is on Villa’s side having won nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions, and have still only lost one match at Villa Park since their first home game of the season, a run spanning 25 matches.

Newcastle head into the weekend in equally confident mood having just thrashed an in form Crystal Palace side 5-0 on Wednesday night to earn their sixth victory in a row, taking them all the way up to third in the Premier League table.

Eddie Howe’s side now have a five point cushion within the Champions League places as they bid to reach Europe’s premier cup competition for the second time in three years.

Newcastle have won five of the last six matches between the two sides, including each of the last three.
