Barcelona launched an extraordinary comeback at the weekend to beat Celta Vigo 4-3. Hansi Flick’s side won the match in dramatic fashion to remain in pole position to win the La Liga title.

The race is not over yet, though, and Barcelona will be aiming for a more comfortable 90 minutes against Real Mallorca. Can the visitors throw a spanner in the Catalan works?

Barcelona vs Real Mallorca predictions

Barcelona put their fans through the emotional mill at the weekend.

In what seemed like a straightforward home game against Celta Vigo, Barca were stunned when their opponents raced into a 3-1 lead.

Watching on from elsewhere, that shock scoreline doubtless gave Real Madrid a major boost. But by the end of the night, the champions were left disappointed.

That is because Barcelona launched a remarkable comeback from two goals down.  and the star of the show, as he has been several times this term.Dani Olmo halved the deficit in the 65th minute, before Raphinha brought the hosts level soon after.

Still, it looked like Celta would leave Catalonia with a point. Barcelona piled on the pressure, but Claudio Giraldez’s team stood firm.

Until the eighth minute of second-half stoppage time, that is. It took Barcelona a while to grab the all-important seventh goal, but eventually they did.

It came from the penalty spot after Olmo was tripped in the box. Raphina kept his cool to convert, completing his hat-trick in dramatic fashion.

Flick was understandably delighted with the character his team showed to dig out the victory in difficult circumstances.

“The team did everything, we didn’t give up,” he said. “That’s the mentality we have right now. It’s great. I don’t want to talk about the mistakes my players made. I think that everyone can see that the team didn’t give up, they did their best for 90 minutes and we got the three points.”

It was almost the perfect weekend for Barcelona, who were cheering on Athletic Bilbao at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday night.

Real Madrid were held by the Basque nation until injury time at the end of the second half, when Fede Valverde struck to keep them in the title conversation.

Barcelona now have the chance to move seven points clear in top spot, at least temporarily. A win against Real Mallorca would pile the pressure back on Madrid ahead of their trip to Getafe 24 hours later.

The two Clasico rivals will butt heads in the Copa del Rey final this weekend, but neither Flick nor Carlo Ancelotti will allow his respective players to let their attention drift from these midweek assignments.

Barcelona have a treble in their sights, yet they were given a warning by Celta Vigo at the weekend: nothing should be taken for granted.

Barcelona vs Real Mallorca betting tips

Barcelona will be looking to take another step towards the La Liga title on Tuesday.

Barcelona to win and under 3.5 goals

Mallorca might be a famous holiday destination for those seeking sun, sea and sand, but the football team is not on the beach yet.

Real Mallorca sit seventh in the standings ahead of this trip to Barcelona. If they finish there, they will play in the Europa League next season.

It will be tough for them to compete with Barcelona away from home, however. The Catalans won the reverse fixture 5-1 and we expect them to triumph here too.

This will probably be a tighter affair, though. After the topsy-turvy nature of the Celta Vigo game, Flick will preach the importance of control to his Barcelona players.

It is also worth noting that the aforementioned 5-1 defeat by Barca was an aberration for Mallorca, whose games this term have contained an average of just 2.13 goals per 90 minutes, the joint-second lowest in the league.

Draw at half-time

Real Mallorca drew 0-0 with Leganes at the weekend, which means they have only won one of their last four league games.

However, Mallorca have fared pretty well in the first half of those games. In fact, in only one of their last nine matches have Jagoba Arrasate’s charges been behind at the interval.

Barcelona may therefore have to be patient here. And after shipping three goals to Celta Vigo last time out, Flick might not be too bothered if the score is 0-0 after 45 minutes.

There has been nothing between Mallorca and their opponents at half-time in 19 of their 32 games in 2024/25, a joint-high in La Liga.

Robert Lewandowski to score any time

Robert Lewandowski was overshadowed by Raphinha on Saturday.

The Brazilian’s treble moved him up to 30 goals in all competitions, but Lewandowski is still clear in top spot with 40 strikes to his name.

The Poland international was relatively quiet against Celta Vigo, but that makes him more dangerous on Tuesday.

Real Mallorca could be overwhelmed by Barcelona’s quality in the final third – and Lewandowski would stand to benefit.

Flick is likely to substitute Lewandowski in the second period ahead of the Copa del Rey final, but we like his chances of finding the net regardless.
