Matchroom CEO Frank Smith got into a heated altercation with Chris Eubank Jr’s advisor, Mazhar Majeed, at the Friday morning weigh-in.

A video uploaded to Matchroom Boxing’s social media shows both men being pulled apart by security while exchanging verbal jabs.

“Maz, I’m not scared of you,” Conor Benn‘s co-promoter could be heard saying.

Majeed responded: “I don’t give a f****. I don’t give a f***.”

The intensity increased after Majeed turned away and called Smith a “p****”.

Smith, who no longer had a grin on his face, pointed at Majeed and replied: “Come on. Come outside.

“Sorry? Keep turning around and saying it. Come outside.

“I’m not going to have a fight with you.”

Eventually, the two men went their separate ways after the General Secretary of the British Boxing Board of Control, Robert Smith, intervened.

The angry exchange came moments after Eubank Jr missed weight at the behind-closed-doors weigh-in for his grudge match with Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.

Eubank Jr turned up over an hour late for his pre-fight obligation, and when he did, he came in over the contracted 160lbs middleweight limit twice.

His first attempt was 160.2lbs, while his second and last attempt was 160.05lbs, meaning he missed weight by half an ounce.

As a result, Eubank Jr has been fined $500,000 (£375,000), which will be handed to Benn – who came in at 156.4lbs – as per the weight clause in their contract.

Both fighters will now partake in a ceremonial weigh-in at 6pm before weighing in again at their hotels early tomorrow morning to complete the terms of their 10lbs rehydration clause.

It stipulates that neither man can weigh in more than 170lbs.

There are concerns that Eubank Jr may struggle to keep the weight off.

If he can’t, it will result in another fine, or worse still, the cancellation of the fight.

Eubank Jr admitted he was struggling with the weight-cut at the pre-fight press conference on Thursday.

He said: “The weight is painful, I’m in pain right now. I’ll be in even more pain tonight and tomorrow morning.”

Eubank Jr has since uploaded a video of himself looking very gaunt while cutting weight.

Benn was quick to respond: “Christopher, who are you trying to fool and get sympathy from, I’m coming UP to your weight, a weight you’ve made your last 3 fights and most of your career!

“It’s like you’re looking for excuses already? First time you’ve ever missed weight and first time you’ve ever posted a weight cut.”
