Chris Eubank Jr was taken by ambulance to hospital just minutes after his epic win over Conor Benn.

Eubank Jr left it all in the ring as he fought in an all-time classic contest with bitter rival Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Both talents left their all in the ring, with both left injured and exhausted after a real punch-for-punch war.

Eubank Jr sported a cut to his eye and visible marking on his face as he celebrated his victory with his father, who showed up to the contest at late notice.

As he left the ring, it was expected he would attend the post-fight press conference.

But on medical advice, Eubank Jr was rushed to hospital by ambulance, and was given little time to celebrate his career-defining win.

It was real physical warfare, and when the news reached the boxing fraternity, they were concerned for his wellbeing.

One wrote: “I was concerned how he looked after his face looked very swollen.

Another agreed: “Sensible! After the dehydration and the many blows he absorbed, that’s the right thing! I hope he’s okay.”

A fan suggested: “His jaw looks broken for sure.”

While a final user concluded: “His face is battered, but showed some real character in that slugfest. A credit to British boxing.”

Eubank Jr will be assessed and receive treatment for his injuries which are current undisclosed.

His promoter BOXXER released a statement, which read: “On recommendation of the onsite doctor, Chris Eubank Jr has been taken to hospital by ambulance for precautionary checks.”

The pair will now be on each other’s minds after their epic battle, given the possibility of an immediate sequel will loom large.

Eubank Jr will have time to celebrate, but Benn holds the cards given he will be able to activate a contracted rematch clause.

And ‘The Destroyer’ believes despite defeat, he still has a chance at revenge or alternative world title opportunities.

He said after the final bell: “Fourteen months out of the ring played a factor, that would be the only thing – inactivity.

“I felt like it was a close fight. I’m not going to say ‘yeah I should have won that’, I’ve got to watch it back.

“It was close. I stayed on the ropes maybe a bit too long and he worked harder towards the end.

“I believe I can fight at 160 [pounds]. If we don’t do the rematch, which I’d love to do to avenge the loss, I’ll go down to welterweight and win the WBC world title.

“It’s either [WBC welterweight champion] Mario Barrios or the rematch with Eubank, whichever happens next I’ll be content with.”

Eubank Jr and Benn showed real courage and skill, with many now desperate to see the pair go at it again.
