‘Let’s clear it up’ – Jarrell Miller breaks silence on Fabio Wardley fight withdrawal

Jarrell Miller has hit out at promoter Dmitry Salita in his first words since withdrawing from his fight with Fabio Wardley.

Miller was set to face a huge opportunity against British star Wardley at Ipswich’s Portman Road on June 7.

But the American was forced to withdraw from the clash after suffering a shoulder injury.

Justis Huni has instead been selected to face Wardley, a real test given the undefeated Australian has made a bright start to life as a professional.

Since the pull-out, speculation has ramped up over Miller’s relationship with promoter Salita.

And he has since clarified the exact details of the rift in a social media statement.

It read: “There’s a lot of ‘he said she said’ s**t going on right now, so let’s clear it up.

“Dimitry Salita is no longer my promoter. I have no promoter.

“I’ve been dealing with a slight set back and will be good in another week.

“The only person that can speak is in this pic and it’s my manager as shown in the picture above, Spencer Brown.

“Absolutely no-one else. More updates coming soon.”

Miller was looking to try and push his name back into the world title mix.

The outing would have been his first since controversially drawing with Andy Ruiz last year.

It had already been a fiery build-up to the clash with Wardley, as Miller slapped his rival during a heated press conference.

Promoter Frank Warren wasn’t impressed with his behaviour during the altercation.

But for now it will be Huni who steps in with the American left out in the cold.

And Warren believes it will be a tougher test for the Suffolk native who is defending his unbeaten record.

“I am very happy that we have been able to bring in probably an even tougher opponent for Fabio in Justis Huni,” he said.

“This will be a great fight between two young heavyweights on the rise and with an eye on the big prize.

“Justis holds the No.1 spot in the WBO rankings, so it says a lot about him that he is prepared to surrender his position to fight Fabio in a 50-50 on paper for the WBA Interim world title.

“There is also the added dimension of Justis being a Matchroom fighter and we’ve got a lead to protect!”
