Group 2 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Middleton Fillies’ Stakes Runner By Runner Betting Guide – 1m2½f

🏇 7 See The Fire (4)

  • Age: 4
  • Weight: 9st 2lb
  • Form: 2135-5
  • Rating: 113
  • Jockey: Oisin Murphy
  • Trainer: Andrew Balding
  • Odds: 11/8

After a progressive three-year-old season that saw See The Fire win the Group 3 Strensall Stakes before being beaten a neck in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes by Opera Singer, she could be set to return to the winner’s enclosure today. She returned to the track in a Group 3 last month, where she was sent off the 11/4 favourite but ran like a filly who would come on plenty for the run when weakening inside the final furlong.

Last season, See The Fire had some standout runs at Group 1 level behind Porta Fortuna, City Of Troy, Tamfana, and Anmaat, and a repeat of any of those runs would make her hard to beat. Now back against her own sex and with fitness and ground condition in her favour, See The Fire will be a tough nut to crack here.

🏇 2 Beautiful Love (6)

  • Age: 4
  • Weight: 9st 2lb
  • Form: 134-63
  • Rating: 113
  • Jockey: William Buick
  • Trainer: Charlie Appleby
  • Odds: 11/2

Having been no match for her stablemate Cinderella’s Dream on Guineas weekend, Beautiful Love takes a much needed drop in grade. She has shown her best form on American soil against lesser opposition, but she has also been held at a lower level, which raises question marks over her at this level back in the UK. But when she does put it together, she is more than capable of mixing it with the best at this level, as shown when fourth in Group 1 at the Breeders Cup. She’s not the most reliable, but this distance is her ideal trip, so she is not out of it for a place.

🏇 3 Doha (7)

  • Age: 5
  • Weight: 9st 2lb
  • Form: 25210-
  • Rating: 107
  • Jockey: Hector Crouch
  • Trainer: Ralph Beckett
  • Odds: 11/2

By Sea The Stars out of Treve, Doha could not be bred more in the purple, but she is failing to live up to her Arc-winning parent’s name. A listed level win has been her standout performance to date, which was shortly after finishing fifth in a Group 1 (See The Fire over four lengths in front), and if she is to crack it at Group 2 level on her first start as a five-year-old, she will need to find considerable improvement to take this.

🏇 5 Nakheel (3)

  • Age: 4
  • Weight: 9st 2lb
  • Form: 13431-
  • Rating: 110
  • Jockey: Jim Crowley
  • Trainer: Owen Burrows
  • Odds: 11/2

The further this filly goes, the better she will be this season, so starting her season over 1m2f at this level, Nakheel may find things happening too fast for her. This race looks to be a stepping stone for the season ahead, and even though she is unlikely to win, she will be running on strong in the closing stages, giving her place claims. No matter what she does today she will come on a lot for the run, but once she steps up in trip throughout the season, she is a filly to keep on the right side.

🏇 6 Royal Dress (5)

  • Age: 5
  • Weight: 9st 2lb
  • Form: 13813-
  • Rating: 107
  • Jockey: Ben Coen
  • Trainer: James Tate
  • Odds: 14/1

Five runs last season for James Tate brought about two wins, one at Listed level, and the other in good style at the Curragh at Group 3 level. She underperformed when trying to back up her Curragh win in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood on her final four-year-old start, but given that she made a winning return in the last two seasons, Royal Dress could be more forward than most here. She may have had plenty of racing in her career, but this new trip can bring out more improvement, and Royal Dress looks set to outrun her odds.

🏇 8 Sioux Life (1)

  • Age: 4
  • Weight: 9st 2lb
  • Form: 10111-
  • Rating: –
  • Jockey: David Egan
  • Trainer: Marco Botti
  • Odds: 14/1

Sioux Life was a prolific winner in Italy, winning five of her eight starts for Endo Botti, but even with that win record, this looks to be a fact-finding mission for the season ahead for new connections. It’s hard to know what to expect from this Italian import, but given her win record in Italy, which includes wins at Group 2 & 3 level, she has to be respected. The betting market should guide you today.

🏇 1 Ambiente Amigo (1)

  • Age: 4
  • Weight: 9st 2lb
  • Form: 476-21
  • Rating: 97
  • Jockey: Harry Davies
  • Trainer: James Owen
  • Odds: 20/1

On all known form, it’s hard to see Ambiente Amigo getting her head in front today, but she does come in here on the back of a win over Karmology in the Nottinghamshire Oaks last month. That was her best run to date, and given her race fitness, she has an outside place chance if some of the top contenders fail to fire.

🏇 4 Karamology (8)

  • Age: 5
  • Weight: 9st 2lb
  • Form: 2299-2
  • Rating: 96
  • Jockey: Sam James
  • Trainer: Karl Burke
  • Odds: 25/1

Just like Ambiente Amigo, who got the better of Karamology at Nottingham, she has a lot to find with most of these on ratings, but what Karamology has going for her is that she is a regular visitor to York. Four of her 11 starts have come here, and the only time that she has finished outside of the top two at York was when she was sent out the favourite for the Listed Fillies’ Stakes in September. She may have a lot to find with some on ratings, but her good course and distance form will close the gap. Not without a small each-way chance.

Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Middleton Fillies’ Stake verdict

For a race that looks competitive on paper, this could be plain sailing for SEE THE FIRE. She comes here with a run under her belt, and given her form at Group 1 level last season, combined with a course win, she looks set to get back to winning ways here.

Royal Dress looks overpriced and can sneak into a place.
