Tyrrell Hatton’s PGA Championship challenge may have ended in an X-rated meltdown.

The Englishman is infamous for providing some choice words to course microphones after bad shots.

Having found the water from the tee box on the 18th while looking to close out his front nine, Hatton lived up to his reputation.

The 33-year-old took out his frustrations on his driver, screaming ‘piece of s***, c***’ at the club.

Hatton ended up carding a triple bogey which dropped him to two-under for the tournament — four shots off the lead.

Quail Hollow has given a few players a tough lie this week thanks to think rough and rainy weather in North Carolina, but few handled it quite like the LIV star.

Eagle-eyed fans believed he spat at the rough on another hole.

Social media was flooded with comments condemning his behaviour.

Tyrrell Hatton a disgrace as a professional sportsman, wee guy behaviour, parents must be proud to see him swearing, banging his club and spitting at a poor lie,” wrote one.

“Tired of this guy and his antics,” added another.

A third posted: “I don’t understand how he plays at a high level with his anger problems.

“When I get like this on the course, the wheels fall off.”

His driver came in for some abuse

“Most annoying guy in the tournament glad we see him 4 times a year tops,” suggested a fourth.

But not everybody was against Hatton’s antics, with one viewer branding him ‘box office.’

“This guy is the best,” added another as plenty saw the funny side.

Hatton also turned the airways blue on Thursday’s opening round, this time on the par-three 17th.

“Oh my God,” he said after missing the green. “That is… the worst f******…”

The cameras swiftly moved on before the announcer declared ‘Well… to 18!’

Incredibly, the Sky Sports commentators had just praised Hatton for his temperament during the opening round.

“I don’t know if he has a lot of totally stress-free rounds — even if he’s playing really well,” they said via the Daily Mail.

Ahead of Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup campaign in Italy two years ago, Hatton had a genius response when asked about fellow LIV hot-head Jon Rahm’s love of the odd swearword.

“I don’t understand why Jon doesn’t swear in Spanish,” the 33-year-old. “Why does he swear in English? I don’t get it.

“He would probably get away with it if he just swore in Spanish. Maybe the English language has a bit more punch to it with certain words.”

Asked if he could follow his own advice, Hatton decided to stick with his mother tongue.

“I’d give it a pretty poor attempt,” he added. “I wouldn’t want to embarrass myself or to, yeah, just upset Jon, I guess, in front of him.

“I think I would probably win in a swear-off. I’ve got everyone covered when it comes to that.”
