Manchester United have a hefty sell-on fee from his £26.6million move to France in the summer.
Greenwood spent last season on loan at Spanish side Getafe, where he banged in ten goals in 36 games in all competitions.
talkSPORT told you in December 2023 how Barca were keeping tabs on the 22-year-old following his displays in Spain.
Meanwhile Diego Simeone’s Atletico were also scouting him, though both clubs opted against turning their interest into a formal bid – leading to Marseille to swoop in.
And Greenwood has started off strongly in Ligue 1 – chipping in with five goals in four top-flight outings.
He is the current top scorer in the division, with only Erling Haaland scoring more than him in Europe’s top five leagues.
It took Greenwood just three minutes to open his account on his debut, where he found the back of the net twice in the 5-1 away win at Brest.
His impressive start to the new season unsurprisingly saw him named as Marseille’s August player of the month.
Greenwood is hoping his fast start in France will help win over some of the fans who were left unhappy about his arrival.
The one-cap England international has spent the last year rebuilding his life and career following his suspension from United.

He was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of rape, assault and making threats to kill – something he strenuously denied.
Charges against the forward were dropped in February 2023.
But that didn’t stop the Mayor of Marseille to urge the club not to sign him in the summer.
For Greenwood, he will be looking to make another impression when Marseille face Lyon at the Groupama Stadium on Sunday.
Marseille know they could go top of the table should Paris Saint-Germain fall to a defeat at Reims on Saturday night.
