Chelsea will get their hands on a European trophy and a big chunk of cash if they beat Real Betis in the Conference League final this week.

The Blues are set to face their Spanish opponents in Poland after breezing through UEFA’s third-tier competition this season.

Enzo Maresca’s side won every single game in the League Phase before beating Copenhagen, Legia Warsaw and Djurgarden to reach the final.

Meanwhile, Real Betis had a much poorer League Phase, but they’ve progressed through the knockout rounds, needing extra-time to get past Fiorentina.

It has set up what is surely going to be a thriller, but only one team can lift some silverware and secure themselves the maximum payout…

What do Chelsea get for winning Conference League?

The winners of the Conference League will receive a total of €7million (£5.9million).

It means one of Chelsea or Betis are going to come away with a nice sum of money.

This amount is the same as what Manchester United received for finishing as runners-up in the Europa League this season.

Meanwhile, it’s only a quarter of what Champions League winners take home, with the major European champions pocketing a whopping £21.07million.

The loser in Wroclaw is set to take home €4million (£3.37million).

That is over a million more than the £2.11million that either side would have achieved should they have been knocked out in the semi-finals.

On top of the money, by winning the Conference League, a team usually qualifies for the Europa League for the following campaign.

Conference League prize money breakdown

  • Winner: £5.9million
  • Runner-up: £3.37million
  • Semi-finals: £2.11million
  • Quarter-finals: £1.1million
  • Round of 16: £672,135
  • Knockout round play-offs: £168,533

However, Chelsea are already in the Champions League after finishing fourth in the Premier League

So that means their spot in the Europa League won’t be taken up if they win.

The Blues will have the choice of which competition to play in, but of course, they will pick the Champions League.

Their spot in the Europa League won’t be passed on to another Premier League club, with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace the only teams qualifying.

For Betis, they are already qualified for the Europa League through their sixth-placed finish in LaLiga, meaning that reward is already achieved for them too.

talkSPORT will have live coverage of the final with commentary from Sam Matterface and former Chelsea defender Scott Minto.
