Wednesday horse racing tips
- HAMILTON
3.30: Dothan 6/4 (1.5pts)
4.00: Hurt You Never 7/1 each-way (1pt) - NEWTON ABBOT
2.48: Mr Le Philosophe 4/6 (1.5pts)
3.48: Investment Manager 11/4 (2pts – NAP)
Dothan
Having looked through these 14 runners the only stand out for me is Dothan at a fairly good price at 6/4.
Dothan won nicely on his first start of the season in his first race since being gelded.
That seemed to prompt some progress for trainer Edward Bethell.
We tend to see horses developing further from this point and with a win last time out and only a 2lb rise it’s expected he can do better, especially in amongst this field.
That was of course over 5f and the step back to 6f which didn’t seem to suit before is being returned to and that could all be down to the ground being unfavourable (on soft and heavy) on his first two starts.
Hurt You Never
Oriental Prince hasn’t been seen over 5f since February but in that time he’s been raised a total of 20lb for subsequent wins over 6f and 7f.
I’d be sceptical of him being able to return to this sprint distance and win after that rise over further.
Digital is also tough to back on recent form although he’s seen a bit of money this morning.
However, Hurt You Never looks a great bet given she’s 2-2 here winning earlier this month nicely.
This is certainly tougher but given the scope of the race she has a great chance of at least placing and bringing some nice profit on.
Mr Le Philosophe
Odds-on for good reason in this rather weak novices’ handicap hurdle.
This gelding by Le Havre was just a nose second on his fifth start over hurdles on his first run for trainer James Owen.
Things look to be getting better for this horse who wasn’t exactly bringing too much hope to his hurdling career.
Goes off the same weight here and there should be able to produce the win against 11 runners who’ve not shown much promise comparatively, especially with the weights still in his favour.
Investment Manager
Tipped this horse a fair few times over the last couple of years alone.
Winning nicely here back in September 2024 at 6/4 off the same weight he is today.
Also tipped him here in July 2023 where he also won when he went off at 15/2 but tipped at 12/1.
That race he was 10lb lighter and he went on to win a month later over 2m5f at Newton Abbot.
Hasn’t been seen to his usual standard recently but dropping back to his last winning weight and returning to his favoured 3m2d should do the trick – especially at a course where he’s got a record of 152311222112.
