Maycee Barber has hit back at Erin Blanchfield’s claim her life is ‘a mess’ after she suffered a seizure before their UFC fight.

Barber was set to meet Blanchfield in the main event of the latest UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas over the weekend.

But incredibly the showdown was cancelled just moments before the walk-on, with Barber reportedly having a seizure in her dressing room.

Blanchfield showed no sympathy in her comments responding to the incident which saw the clash removed from the bill.

She accused her rival of being ‘unprofessional’ and refused to entertain any talks of the fight being rescheduled.

Now, Barber has broken her silence after being forced medically to withdraw, and has defended her own actions.

She said: “Not what I had planned for a Sunday post. Thank you to everyone for the prayers and support.

“I owe an apology to UFC, [UFC matchmaker] Mick Maynard, Dana White, [UFC matchmaker] Sean Shelby and Erin Blanchfield.

“P.S: My life is not messy; this is just a bad hand. We will get to the bottom of it all and be back.”

Accompanying the social media statement, were pictures of Barber attached to ECG strips, likely measuring her heart.

Barber also released a photo of herself on a hospital bed, looking worse for wear.

It is clear that she was unfit to take part in the huge meeting particularly after medical checks.

Prior to the bout, the withdrawn Barber had already missed weight tipping the scales at 126.5lbs.

She had been on a six-fight winning streak prior to the bout, but is now likely to be sidelined.

Blanchfield will likely look to move on and try to preserve her ranking in the upper echelon of the women’s flyweight division.

She is like Barber pushing for a shot at the division’s current queen Valentina Shevchenko.

Despite the terrible events that unfolded, Barber’s return to health will take priority.

And Blanchfield is still set to be compensated by the UFC, who will pay her full purse including her show and win fee.
