Harry Brook’s reign as captain of the England T20I side gets underway in Durham on Friday night with the first game in a three match series against the West Indies, the hosts fresh from a 3-0 series whitewash in the ODI format against the same opposition.
The series sees the third ranked team in the world host the fifth, with Brendon McCullum taking charge of his second T20I series since adding the white ball role to his red ball coaching duties, and follows a 4-1 series defeat in India back in January.
England will be looking to get back to winning ways on Friday night in the north east, and will be pleased to welcome recently crowned Indian Premier League champion Phil Salt back into the side, fresh from his second IPL trophy in consecutive seasons batting at the top of the order.
Spinning all rounders Rehan Ahmed and Liam Dawson also join up the squad having missed out on the ODIs, while Joe Root and Jamie Smith depart the squad following the culmination of the 50-over series.

West Indies will be eager to return home from the UK with a T20I series victory under their belt after being on the wrong end of a whitewash in the ODI series.
Daren Sammy’s side will all so be looking to get back to winning ways in the format having suffered a 3-0 defeat in their last T20I series in Bangladesh, as the side prepare for the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka early next year.
Captain Shai Hope will be delighted to be welcoming back the likes of T20 franchise league specialists Andre Russell, Jason Holder, Rovman Powell and Akeal Hosein into the squad, as well as newly crowned IPL champion Romario Shepherd, none of whom took part in the ODI series.
After Friday night’s game in Durham, the sides will make the long trip down to the West Country for their second match on Sunday afternoon in Bristol, before bringing the series and the tour to a close in Southampton on Tuesday night.
