Scott McTominay became the first Scot to win the Scudetto since 1905, making his shirt a pivotal artifact in Italian and Scottish football history.

McTominay’s signed match-worn shirt from Napoli‘s Serie A title-clinching 2-0 victory against Cagliari, has sold for £20,280 at auction.

Fans from Italy and the US entered into a bidding battle that went down to the wire this week, with a US-based collector winning the now-historic shirt at auction on MatchWornShirt.com.

The final moments of the auction saw a fierce competition ensue, with the bid rocketing up from £9,293 to a staggering £20,280 in just 11 minutes.

The ball that McTominay scored his goal with also went up for auction, with its bid ending at a higher selling price than the midfielder’s shirt at £26,981.

These remarkable pieces of football memorabilia come from the match where McTominay scored a stunning scissor-kick, to cement his legendary status in Napoli’s title-winning season.

Antonio Conte’s side ultimately beat Cagliari 2-0 at home on Friday to seal the title win, with McTominay scoring the opener.

The win ensured they ended the campaign a point ahead of title rivals Inter Milan, with their return to the Champions League also secured.

After a one-year hiatus, the former quarter-finalists now enter in the league phase.

The Scotland international quickly became a fan favourite amongst supporters after joining the Italian squad.

Following his move from Manchester United for £25 million last summer, the midfielder has scored 12 goals in 34 league appearances.

His United debut came under Jose Mourinho, who gave McTominay the first ever manager’s ‘player of the year’ award.

During his time at United, his teammates labelled him ‘The McTerminator’ as he provided the Red Devils with valuable goals in important moments.

Since his move to Napoli, United have struggled in the midfield and attacking areas during the 2024/25 campaign, recently ending the season in 13th place on the Premier League table.

The Scotsman is confident carrying the ball and breaking lines from midfield and into the final third, something which last season’s United squad missed.

McTominay’s home team heroics have lead to him being perceived as Scotland’s biggest attacking threat, holding the record for the most goals for his country across their previous 3 UEFA competitions.

Ex-Napoli and Italy star Gianfranco Zola recently questioned United’s decision to sell.

Asked about the title victory, the former Chelsea forward told talKSPORT: “That was fantastic.

“When Napoli win something in football, it’s like a national holiday. It’s been incredible. On top of that, I was so pleased that probably the main player is McTominay.

“Sometimes I cannot believe a player like McTominay is being released and allowed to go and play in a team like Napoli. Really, I don’t understand.”
