We know that Formula 1 drivers sometimes pee in their suits.

But Lando Norris joked he’d done something far worse during the Singapore Grand Prix.

The McLaren superstar had a sensational drive going from pole to the chequered flag in first position.

He did so in sweltering conditions which saw ex-F1 star David Coulthard douse him with water during his trackside post-win interview.

And despite a 20.495 second lead over title rival Max Verstappen, Norris was made to sweat – and not just because of the heat.

On lap 29 at Turn 14, Norris locked up and overshot the corner, brushing his front-wing against the wall.

The incident was shown to Norris, Verstappen, and fellow McLaren star Oscar Piastri, who claimed third spot.

And on seeing the incident, the Dutch Red Bull star, who saw his championship lead cut to 52 points, was shocked by what he’d seen.

A stunned Verstappen, who won’t have seen the close call, exclaimed: “No way!” And joked: “You should have released the brake a little, actually.”

And a brutally honest Norris replied: “I actually s*** myself.”

The comment left Verstappen laughing, as we don’t believe the British driver did actually do the deed.

And after the swear word was uttered, teammate Piastri quickly chipped in.

Norris, on two occasions, had a brush with a wall in SingaporeSky Sports F1

He added: “Without using swear words, how did you feel when you did that?”

Norris laughed: “Funked.”

And in an interview after, he admitted he’d had ridden his luck, despite a brilliant drive.

“It was an amazing race – a few too many close calls,” said Norris. “I had a couple of little moments in the middle, but it was well-controlled, I think.

“The car was mega, so I could push. We were flying the whole race and at the end I could just chill. So it was nice.

“It’s still tough. I’m a bit out of breath, but a very fun one.”
