Game 3: Uganda U-19 v Rwanda U-19

Time: 10:30 am, EAT

Venue: IPRC

Uganda’s Baby Victoria Pearls will have to go through hosts Rwanda if they are to secure the top spot in Group A.

This game is a repeat of the semifinals of the last qualifiers in 2022 in Botswana which Rwanda won and went on to qualify for the World Cup.

The two sides have secured semifinal places with two victories each against both Kenya and Namibia but the issue of who finishes top is the lingering one. Uganda is currently top of the table due to a better Net Run Rate.

Uganda will have some revenge on their minds ahead of the clash but without getting emotional they will need to execute their skills well to get the result. The winner of the clash will meet the side that finishes second in Group B which is most likely to be Zimbabwe.

Uganda didn’t need to engage second gear in the wins against Namibia and Kenya but as the tournament gets to the business end the entire unit will be required to contribute. Lona Anyait (7/6) had record figures against Kenya and Patricia Timong earned the Player of the Match awards in the wins against Kenya and Namibia respectively.

The two sides will advance to the semifinals with the tournament winner earning the one spot to represent Africa at the 2025 World Cup in Malaysia.
