Bet of the day
Ajax to beat Besiktas @ 4/5
The only way was up for Ajax after last season’s dismal campaign, but the Sons of the Gods have certainly made a good impression this term.
Francesco Farioli’s men dismissed the challenge of Vojvodina, Panathinaikos and Jagiellonia Białystok to reach the group stage of the Europa League and there have been a number of high-scoring domestic successes too.
Bertrand Traore and Wout Weghorst have proved useful additions, while Josip Sutalo and Jordan Henderson remain good performers.
Ajax have scored eight goals and kept two clean sheets in their last two home matches and they look excellent value to repel Besiktas at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
The Turkish side have been in good form but have enjoyed a pretty kind fixture list at the start of the campaign and Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men may have more to deal with in Amsterdam.
Special of the day
Over 2.5 goals in Malmo v Rangers @ Evs
Rangers have struggled to find any sort of balance and cohesion in midfield and defence this term and the pressure is building on manager Philippe Clement.
The Gers conceded three goals in two Champions League matches against Dynamo Kiev and were beaten 3-0 in the opening Old Firm game of the season, making it clear that they are unable to close the door when tacking a good level of opposition.
However, there is promise going forward, with Clement able to call on Cyriel Dessers, Vaclav Cerny, Tom Lawrence and Nedim Bajrami in attack and Rangers have scored 12 goals in their last five matches.
Malmo have scored an impressive 31 goals in 11 home Allsvenskan matches this term, but the Swedish outfit shipped 13 strikes in their six Champions League ties and could be vulnerable at the back.
Over 2.5 goals looks a good bet in what should be an entertaining clash at the Eleda Stadion.
Long shot of the day
Athletic Bilbao to beat Roma @ 5/2
Athletic have made a strong start to the La Liga campaign and are robust enough to stand up to the challenge of Roma.
Ernesto Valverde’s men have beaten Valencia, Las Palmas, Leganes and Celta Vigo this season and look a well-drilled and strong unit.
Athletic will be without the services of star man Nico Williams for their trip to Italy, but that may have been overplayed by the prices and the Lions can roar against Roma.
