British former UFC fighter Muhammad Mokaev has claimed that he is the highest-paid flyweight in the world.
Mokaev won all of his fights in the UFC before Dana White announced that he would no longer continue with his promotion.
Mokaev and Kape settled their beef at UFC 304
His last appearance in the UFC came at the Co-op Live in Manchester for UFC 304 in July.
Here, he produced an utterly dominant performance beating rival Manel Kape on points, which set his eyes on those above him in the flyweight division in order to get a title shot.
The fight was Mokaev’s 13th consecutive professional MMA victory, so the announcement to release the 24-year-old was met with confusion.
After the clash, White announced that UFC’s matchmakers ‘aren’t big fans of his’ and that the PFL, another rival MMA promotion, were ‘going to get a great guy’.
But it wasn’t the PFL, who have Jake Paul and Francis Ngannou under contract, that Mokaev signed for.
It was announced in August that the flyweight had re-signed with Brave Combat Federation (Brave CF), a Bahrain-based promotion, who Mokaev fought five times with prior to the UFC.
The promotion’s president Mohammed Shahid released a statement upon Mokaev’s arrival.
He said: “We would like to welcome back Muhammad Mokaev, an undefeated superstar, who is an amateur legend…”
Now, the Wigan Athletic supporter and ex-Team GB freestyle wrestler claims the organisation is paying him very good money for his services.
“Highest paid flyweight fighter in the world right now without holding the title,” Mokaev posted this week on X.
Mokaev has never lost a professional MMA fight
“But of course my goal is [to] come back to UFC because it is the number one promotion in the world right now!”, he added.
Mokeav’s words baffled many fans as they questioned who was actually paying the fighter, considering he was making it very known that he didn’t want to remain with Brave CF.
One user commented: “Telling your boss you are quitting at the first chance isn’t a good look.”
Another said: “Mokaev has a lot of skill…but his mindset is self-destructive. The PFL wanted nothing to do with him and the UFC sent him packing. Saying these kind of things are only gonna push them farther away.”
While a third added: “The dude really thinks these posts are being watched and read by anyone that matters at the UFC. Soon, no one will be interested.”
Mokaev is yet to fight with his new promotion since his UFC departure and these comments may not help his case in terms of finding an opponent in the near future.
