Time for the big one now! The Grand National takes centre stage at 4pm and we have a full field of 34 looking to write their name in history.
I have covered the race in detail so hopefully can steer you towards a winner. We also have three more Grade 1s to conclude the meeting and with a bit of luck we can bow out on a high.
I have analysed all seven races in detail on Day 3 so let’s go to war with the bookies for the third and final day.

Grand National tips
The first thing I’d say about the Grand National is never let anyone put you off a horse! If you like one and there is reasoning behind it then please do stick with it. As you can see from the betting it is a wide open renewal and I think it’s a combination of I Am Maximus winning it last year and Paul Townend having such a good week as to why he is now favourite for the race.
It will be a big ask off 11 stone 12 but I guess at least he is lightly raced so he still has to be feared. I’m taking a chance on a few at bigger prices though with my main hope definitely STUMPTOWN. He was impressive winning the Cross Country at Cheltenham last month and I love the way he goes through his races. He will be allowed to get into a rhythm before trying to pick them off in the closing stages. Keith Donoghue suits him so well and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t get seriously competitive.
Stablemate VANILLIER was a big eye-catcher behind him at Cheltenham doing some good late work and he has experience in the race having chased home Corach Rambler in 2023 and then finished midfield behind I Am Maximus last year. He looks off a good mark and he stays all day so he has to be included.
The other one I’ve covered is also trained by Gavin Cromwell in the shape of PERCEVAL LEGALLOIS. He impressed winning a competitive handicap just after Christmas and then won well back over hurdles at the Dublin Racing Festival. If he stays the trip it wouldn’t surprise me to see him run well and confidence seems to be building. Others that made the shortlist include Hewick who will love the ground and Intense Raffles who went down narrowly at Fairyhouse and could threaten if coping with this quicker surface.

Liverpool Hurdle tips
Teahupoo ran a big race in defeat trying to defend his Stayers’ Hurdle crown at Cheltenham last month but the quicker ground definitely caught him out. It is drying out at Aintree all the time so that would have to be a concern again. I also think he is a better horse fresh and this is coming soon enough so that’s definitely another negative. I’m keen to chance KITZBUHEL given the week Mullins and Townend are having. He is completely unexposed having won both starts for this yard and with more to come stepping up significantly in trip now I can see him running a big race.
Home By The Lee unseated at Cheltenham but he didn’t jump well at all and I also think the ground is quick enough for him here. He’s a 10yo too so I’ll be surprised if something doesn’t improve past him. Strong Leader likes this track and comes here fresh so shouldn’t be underestimated. It wasn’t smooth sailing for The Wallpark at Cheltenham and if this pans out better he is another one that could threaten.

Maghull Novices’ Chase tips
I’m surprised L’eau Du Sud is favourite for this as ONLY BY NIGHT beat him in the Arkle albeit narrowly and I think she is open to greater improvement. She won her first three starts over fences and was still staying on well when headed late by Jango Baie last time. She’ll be ridden patiently again and this could pan out perfectly as L’eau Du Sud is likely to be pestered by Touch Me Not on the front end and they could end up getting racing too early.
I don’t think it is just a two-horse race though as Kalif Du Berlais is definitely better than he showed behind Handstands at Sandown. His win at Cheltenham before that was promising and he remains open to improvement. The others do look up against it especially when you look at the ratings trend.

Mersey Novices’ Hurdle tips
I still have full faith in LULAMBA and despite taking on his elders here I expect him to get back to winning ways. He impressed at Ascot despite looking raw and then looked unlucky to be mugged by a deep closer in the Triumph. He seemed to be finding tons off the bridle and beat everything in his eyesight bar the winner who came flying late. He is sure to progress from that experience and over two and a half miles here should be hard to beat however this pans out.
I’d probably make Horaces Pearl the main danger over Koktail Divin. He is yet to taste defeat and was impressive winning by five and a half lengths at Newbury when last seen. He is getting better with experience so should try and make a race of it. Koktail Divin ran well behind Kawaboomga and then bolted up at Leopardstown last month so is likely best of the rest.

Freebooter Handicap Chase tips
I’m expecting similar tactics to be deployed on MYRETOWN and if he gets out in front jumping well he could prove hard to peg back. He has won 3 of his last 4 now and hacked up in the Ultima coming 11 lengths clear at the line. The form looks solid and despite the rise in weight looks a danger to all with this ground perfect. There are a few that could try and go forward but on the pace map nothing has the speed he will show early so I think he’ll be able to dictate and that is half the battle.
Imperial Saint looked progressive initially over fences and shouldn’t be judged too harshly on that fourth at Kempton last time. He could have more to come and is definitely one of the dangers. Docpickedme stayed on well to beat The Changing Man at Doncaster and that rival was behind the selection at Cheltenham so on that form he could have a squeak as well.

William Hill Top Price Guarantee Handicap Hurdle tips
I’m siding with the trends for this race and CATCH HIM DERRY looks a major player for Dan and Harry Skelton. He bounced back from a couple of below-par runs to win readily at Exeter on penultimate start and then he backed that up staying on well to finish third behind Doddiethegreat in the Pertemps. He has ground to make up with Jeriko Du Reponet on that form but he was given a lot to do and also gets a 3lb swing here. He is lightly raced especially in handicaps so I fancy him to go close.
Jeriko Du Reponet is definitely respected as well as while he has to carry a big weight he does have that bit of class about him. He is still completely unexposed so could improve again too so is understandably favourite. Navajo Indy is handicapped to win but he can hit flat spots and on this ground that could catch him out. Act Of Authority is another one capable and that second to Wodhooh in the Martin Pipe looks even better now with that mare running a cracker behind Lossiemouth on Thursday.

Champion NHF Race tips
The concluding bumper is a bit of a lottery so I’m going to chance MOSSY FEN ROAD for Harry Derham. He would have targeted this race with him and I thought he looked a strong stayer winning readily on debut at Wetherby. He was heavily backed that day too suggesting they knew he was quite a smart horse. He will be ridden patiently and might be able to come through late if he gets luck in-running.
Green Splendour impressed winning on debut for this yard and is better than he showed behind Colcannon. He has the size and scope to take a big step forward again so looks one of the biggest dangers. Quaviste prevailed a neck to win on debut and the runner-up Wandering Ego has won by 8 lengths since to frank the form so he must enter calculations as well.
