Akello, Nandudu part of Lady Cranes squad for Women’s Rugby Africa 7s

Uganda’s squad for the 2024 edition of the Women’s Rugby Africa 7s was officially announced on Monday.

Making the squad for the November 9-10 tournament in the Ghanaian capital Accrais Nile Rapids utility back Tina Akello.

Janat Nandudu who announced her arrival on the big stage last year with Mbale Eagles and made the national squad for the Dubai 7s earlier this year makes the final 12 once again.

The duo joins old guards in skipper Peace Lekuru, Lydia Namabiro, Maimuna Nassozi, Agnes Nakuya, Yvone Najjuma, Unity Namulala, Grace Auma, and Grace Nabaggala.

Lorna Amoli and Gertrude Kateesa compleet the squad.

Uganda is in Pool C alongside Zambia, Senegal, and Côte D’Ivoire in what looks like an easy group on paper.

It should be noted that at the previous edition of the Africa 7s in Monastir, Tunisia, Uganda finished third behind defending champions South Africa and Kenya.
