The 51st Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 stage was completed with the final game between Maroons and Wakiso Giants at the Luzira prisons stadium on Wednesday, 26th February 2025.
Maroons qualified following a 4-2 post match penalty victory that followed a goa-less draw in normal time.
It was a competitive and unpredictable round that left bruises for last season’s losing finalist NEC.
NEC was bundled out by second division side Blacks Power at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo after a 2-0 result.
Holders Kitara advanced to the round of 16 with victory over Kampala Regional side CATDA 2-1/
Former winners Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Vipers, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and Sports Club Villa also made the grade to the round of 16.
KCCA won 2-0 over West Nile regional club Kuluva Rain Bow in Arua, Vipers ejected Mbarara City 2-0 at St Mary’s Kitende, URA edged Mabira Town Council 1-0 and SC Villa eliminated Simba 1-0.
Other top flight clubs include Police, Lugazi, UPDF and BUL.
The FUFA Big League clubs to the round of 16 are; Gaddafi, Blacks Power, Kaaro Karungi and Kataka.
Total and Rwenzori Lions are both regional clubs.
The draw for the round of 16 will be confirmed by the FUFA Competitions Department in the due course.
The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup earns the slot to represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.
