Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham proved to be his last following a run of one win in eight matches.

Following his exit, Ten Hag felt let down by Marcus Rashford, Casemiro and Antony, according to the Daily Star.

talkSPORT co-host McCoist agrees that the trio failed to perform for their former manager.

The ex-Scotland striker told Breakfast: “He’s got every right to, has he not? I don’t think they’ve performed.”

Singling out Casemiro, he added: “He’s a little bit like Varane, it just hasn’t really worked out at all.”

Following an impressive first season at Old Trafford, the Brazilian has struggled over the last 12 months.

Meanwhile, Antony has failed to repay his £86million price tag since being signed from Ajax by Ten Hag.

The winger has scored just 12 times for the club, with only one goal in the Premier League since May 2023.

McCoist continued: “How can you possibly [spend] I don’t know, what was it? £90million? I just don’t see it.

“It gets to the stage, you watch the lad and you’re willing him to do well. You want him to do well, you want him to relieve a bit of pressure on himself and do well but I’m not seeing it.”

As for Rashford, the Rangers legend explained: “It’s make or break time for Marcus, it really is.

“You can talk about managers coming in, whether it’s Mourinho or Van Gaal, Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer) or Ten Hag.

“Nevermind the manager, just go and play, go and put in a level of performance yourself. If he asks you to do a job, go and do it.”

Rashford was United’s top scorer during Ten Hag’s tenure with 42 goals in 113 appearances.

However, he has scored just once in the league so far this term as he continues to dip in and out of form.

The 26-year-old’s woes have also seen him lose his place in the England squad, having not been capped since March.

Man United face Leicester in the Carabao Cup under interim manager Ruud van Nistlerooy on Wednesday, live on talkSPORT.
