Angel Reese is looking to cap out a stellar Unrivaled season with the only thing that matters.
The Chicago Sky star is set to play in the semifinals of the 3-on-3 league on Sunday as she looks to win a championship, days after being snubbed from the inaugural Unrivaled first team.
Napheesa Collier, Chelsea Gray and Kayla McBride were named First Team All-Unrivaled.
While Reese, Rhyne Howard and Skylar Diggins-Smith were named Second-Team All-Unrivaled on Thursday.
Collier headlines the Unrivaled first team after leading the No.1 seed Lunar Owls to a 13-1 record during the regular season.
The Unrivaled co-founder is also favourite to win the league MVP and defensive player of the year after averaging 25.7 points, 2.0 steals and 1.4 blocks per game.
Reese’s second-team honor comes after she was one of four players, along with Collier, Breanna Stewart and Alyssa Thomas, to average a double-double during the Unrivaled season.
The 22-year-old averaged 13.1 points and led the league with 12.1 rebounds per game.
She also recorded the first 20-20 game in Unrivaled history, when she had 22 points and 21 rebounds against the Lunar Owls on Feb. 21.
The forward in total had a league high eight double-double games in what was a strong campaign.
Although it wasn’t all rosy for Reese, as her Rose Basketball Club got off to an incredibly poor start before reaching the postseason.
Rose began the season with a 1-4 star before they rattled off a five-game winning streak at the start.
That stretch included handing league-leading Lunar Owls their only loss of the season as the side finished the regular campaign seven of their final nine games.
Such a turnaround in form leaves Rose as one of the hottest teams coming into Unrivaled playoffs.
“I’m always the person who believes it’s not the way you start the season, it’s the way you finish it,” Rose star Gray told reporters after their final regular season game.
“Midway through you want to start building those habits and chemistry and camaraderie.”
Reese also reflected on what has been a strong season for herself as explained she used the campaign to keep developing her game with the new WNBA season getting underway in May.
“Looking down the long road, sometimes I think, ‘How many years am I going to be able to get these double-doubles and all these rebounds,’” Reese said.
“I continue taking shots, risky shots I guess, and shots that people don’t expect me to take.
“This league, you want to win and play the right way, but work on things that lead into the WNBA season.”
Being in Miami has also seen Reese work with WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, who told her that she can be the “2.0” version of her.
Rose are seeded No.2 in the playoffs and have the No.3 Laces (7-7) as the team they’ve got to beat to reach the Championship game
The other semi-final is between the No.1 Lunar Owls and No.4 Vinyl.
Winners of the championship will earn an additional $50,000 on top of their Unrivaled salary.
