Anthony Gordon has thanked Newcastle fans by putting money behind the bar of a local pub.
The Magpies host Brighton at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon, with the sides level on points in seventh and eighth place respectively in the Premier League.

And Newcastle fans got their matchday off to a flyer, with supporters able to enjoy free beverages at The Strawberry pub, courtesy of their No.10.
Gordon, who joined Newcastle in January last year, wanted to show his gratitude for the Toon Army’s support after his penalty miss at Everton.
Before the international break, the England international returned to Goodison Park to face his former side, and missed a golden chance to take home all three points for his side.
His tame penalty was comfortably saved by ex-teammate Jordan Pickford and, with his relationship with Toffees fans in tatters after his exit, he was brutally mocked them after his miss.
Despite Newcastle having to settle for a 0-0 draw, Gordon received a totally different reception from his club’s supporters.
He said after the game: “A great performance, just couldn’t put them away, and that’s on me. Never easy missing but you’ll never ever see me shy away from stepping up for my team. Thanks to everyone that travelled – till next time.”
Fast forward to this Saturday, and a Newcastle fan account revealed how Gordon thanked the Geordies for their support – with free pints!
Popular X site Mouth of the Tyne posted: “Fantastic gesture by Anthony Gordon to put money behind the bar in The Strawberry so that fans can get free drinks pre-match.”
And Newcastle fans are loving their player’s kind gesture.
One fan took to X to show his gratitude, writing: “What a touch by @anthonygordon putting money for fans behind the bar in the @theberrypub today…

“He’s fully invested in our fans and the city that’s for sure. Doesn’t need to do it but that’s the class of the fella.”
Another wrote: “Class act @anthonygordon… definitely future @NUFC captain in my eyes.”
“Anthony Gordon bought me a pint. Not something I’d expect to ever say,” a third wrote.
Last month talkSPORT reported Gordon – who has scored twice this season – is close to signing a new deal on Tyneside.
He has netted 15 goals in 73 appearances for the Magpies in just under two years, grabbing 11 assists in that time.
He scored last time out in the league at Newcastle’s home against Manchester City and will no doubt be hoping to do the same on Saturday afternoon to leapfrog the Seagulls in the table.
