Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois will clash in a title showdown at Wembley Stadium next weekend and the heavyweight action will be live on talkSPORT.

AJ has the chance to become only the sixth-ever three-time heavyweight champion as he looks to win the belt from Dubois.

Joshua and Dubois are fighting for the IBF heavyweight world title

‘DDD’ was the holder of the IBF interim strap but has now been upgraded following Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to vacate his title to allow this fight to happen for the full world title.

The British rivals have a combined 45 knockouts between them in their careers so it is set to be a blockbuster bout later this year.

Joshua will be making his fourth appearance at Wembley while Dubois is set to fight in front of over 90,000 people for the first time.

Joshua vs Dubois: What has been said?

Joshua is ready to enter the ‘wild’ and reclaim the IBF title while Dubois will be looking to ‘become a king-slayer’ and stun AJ.

Joshua said: “I’m not silly, I know the game. We’re all in the wild. We’re a pack of lions and hunters.

“It’s the next man up. I’ve had Dubois on my mind for a while.

“The goal is just to get through a successful training camp, and then performing on the night.”

Dubois added: “I’m just aiming to be the best. To fight the best and beat the best.

“AJ has been the king for a long time, and we all know it, so on the night I need to become a king-slayer.

“That’s my goal and that’s the mission at hand. I’ve improved all round as a fighter and an athlete. I’m really up for this and ready to go.”

Meanwhile, Dubois’ trainer, Don Charles, has insisted he will need to absorb fewer punches than in his last fight if he is to beat Joshua.

He said on talkSPORT Breakfast: “We have a lot of work to do.

“The defence, everyone has latched on to that and him getting with right hands. Yes we can see that and we are trying to improve.

“They say ‘he will get knocked out by AJ’ because he is leaking right hands. But in boxing when you throw a right hand, you are also in danger of being hit with one yourself.

“If they are foolish enough to bank on that, they have something else coming.

“We aren’t ignorant we are going to work on it. He took far too many against Hrgovic.

“That wasn’t the plan, but we will rectify that in the Joshua fight and we are not going to this time.”

Joshua vs Dubois: Sparring History

There have been varying accounts of an intriguing sparring session between Joshua and Dubois in 2016.

Anthony Fowler – who was on the Team GB squad at the time and witnessed the spar unfold in front of his eyes – spoke to talkSPORT about it earlier this month.

“Joshua must have been a little clumsy sparring him,” Fowler said, “And he got caught with a short left hook and Joshua’s legs completely went.

“Dubois could have hit him again and put him to sleep but Dubois had a bit too much respect for him to finish him off.

“Obviously, everyone was stood there like ‘Wow’ and Joshua went and jogged around the ring because his legs were like jelly and he was trying to get his legs back.

“And everyone was going ‘Wait, wait, wait’. Joshua wanted to carry on but Rob McCracken was like ‘Have a little break, get your legs back to normal, and then spar’ and then they continued sparring.

“He didn’t knock him out, he didn’t hit the floor but he was really, really hurt.

“Dubois probably could have hit him again and knocked him out but he chose not to out of respect.”

However, AJ himself insisted: “He just cracked me with a good shot. I stood on my feet.

“I don’t know where this whole narrative of someone turned my lights off came from.

“There were a lot of people in the gym that day as well. And people have come out and said, ‘Nah, nothing [happened].’”
