As a result, the national team’s medical team sent him for a scan and will continue to monitor the problem over the coming days.
Martinelli appeared as a substitute during Brazil’s World Cup qualifying win over Chile on Friday – a match that they won 2-1.
However he will now miss Brazil’s next qualifying clash against Peru early on Wednesday morning.
The news will be a huge worry to Arsenal as they prepare to get back to Premier League action.
The Gunners are already sweating over the fitness of Bukayo Saka after he hobbled off during England’s 2-1 defeat to Greece.
The 23-year-old appeared to be clutching at his right hamstring as he walked off the pitch with two of England’s medical staff alongside him.
When asked about Saka’s injury post-match, Lee Carsley said: “He’s being assessed. Obviously in the build-up to the first goal, you can see he felt something in his leg.”
It’s the second international break that Arsenal have seen a key star picking up an injury..
Gunners skipper Martin Odegaard sustained an ankle injury while on international duty with Norway, forcing him to miss Arsenal’s last seven games.
However, the Norwegian was recently filmed running on a treadmill, sparking hope among fans his return is imminent.
