Police FC suffered their first defeat at home this season at the hands of Maroons FC on Friday.
In the game played at Kavumba Recreation Centre, Ivan ‘Di Maria Asaba’ scored twice to guide Maroons FC to a 2-1 win.
Both teams were without their head coaches, Muhammad Ssenfuma (Maroons FC) and Simon Peter Mugerwa (Police FC) currently at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru for the CAF A Diploma Coaching course.
Despite taking the lead through forward Isaac Ogwang, the Cops squandered their advantage to the visitors.
Ogwang opened the scores in the seventh minute, finishing off a well laid pass from Emmanuel Mugume.
He nearly doubled the lead three minutes later but Maroons goalkeeper Simon Tamale pulled off a fine save to deny him.
Maroons levelled matters from the spot with Asaba spotting home from 12 yards.
The Prison Warders nearly took the lead in the 36th minute but defender Denis Rukundo’s effort was denied by the crossbar.
It was Asaba who fired Maroons in the lead, scoring in the 54th minute.
Despite efforts from Police FC in the final half hour of the game, Maroons remained resilient including Tamale denying Denis Kalanzi in the 86th minute.
The result means Maroons FC move up to sixth on 19 points, one place and two points above Police FC.
