Aston Villa vs Brentford prediction
Aston Villa were at one stage at the start of the season looking like they would be a huge threat in the top four coupled with their great form in the Champions League too, seemed to have a great season ahead.
But it’s all gone down hill since the end of October when they lost to Palace 2-1 in the EFL Cup Round of 16.
From then they’ve gone winless in all competitions, lost 4-1 to Tottenham, 1-0 to Club Brugge to scupper their unbeaten run in the UCL, lost 2-0 to Liverpool, drew 2-2 with Palace and also lost 3-0 to Chelsea.
There are of course some very tough games in there but they certainly expected to get more from Palace at the very least and not been completely out of it against Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool within just a couple of weeks of each other.
They of course have the potential to return to that form but they’re just not scoring like they had been.
Ollie Watkins has scored six so far but has only scored once in the last five, which helped secure a draw.
But the key seems to be their super sub, Jhon Duran, who was netting every time he came on is now without a goal since September in the league, having previously netted four in just five appearances.
Brentford should also be struggling without their star striker Ivan Toney this season but they just aren’t.
Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have stepped up to score plenty between them along with an array of other goal scorers.
As a result, the London side are in eighth place joint on points with Tottenham having scored as many as Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea this season with 26.
The only other issue is the longevity of that as they have also conceded as many as 23.
But they’re on a good run regardless but it wouldn’t be wise to discount Villa at home and a few goals between these two sides.

Brentford have seen a tonne of goals already this season both for and against.
They’ve seen score lines recently of 5-3, 3-2, 4-3, and 4-1 in the league alone.
So Villa might be meeting this side at an opportune moment to get their confidence back in front of goal.
Villa have also opened up the floodgates recently now conceding 22 goals in 13 games and we could see yet another big score line involving the Bees.
