3rd Place Playoff Summary
Uganda 71 all out
Rwanda 72/7
Rwanda won by 3 wickets
The Baby Victoria Pearls lost the 3rd Place Playoff at the U19 World Cup Qualifiers against hosts Rwanda by 3 wickets.
The youngsters failed to forget the semifinal loss to Zimbabwe quickly enough to come up with a great performance.
Patricia Timong (19) was the lone ranger in the low-scoring game and Lorna Anyait (13) was the only other player to get in double digits as Uganda was completely out of their element with the bat.
In the run chase, Rwanda was solid in their response which deflated the Ugandans in defense of a small total.
Mitchelle Ariago (2/7) was impressive in her first game of the tournament but that was not enough to get Uganda over the line.
This was another great experience for the youngsters but another failed campaign as they finished fourth with the same result as Botswana two years ago.
However, the experience is invaluable for the youngsters as they continue to develop on the international stage.
Uganda will return home with more lessons and some soul-searching to do.
Meanwhile, Nigeria earned the right to represent Africa after rain washed out their final against Zimbabwe.
Nigeria, with the fortune of having finished top of their group, earned them the result while Zimbabwe missed out because they finished second in the same group.
