Ronda Rousey has caused quite a stir as fans plead for her to make a fighting comeback after returning to training.

Former UFC and WWE superstar Rousey has suggested in recent times she is happily retired, having had her final fight in wrestling in August 2023 at SummerSlam against Shayna Baszler.

Rousey has shared new photos after returning to the gym

Rousey hasn’t fought in the UFC since 2016 when she hung up her gloves after a stellar career saw her inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.

‘Rowdy’ recently took time away from training as she gave birth to her second child in January with husband Travis Browne, who is also a former UFC fighter.

But when taking to social media, the 38-year-old has now returned to the gym.

She posted photos of herself stretching out and working as well as firing a kick.

The post had the caption: “Back at it.”

Despite publicly playing down a comeback previously, fans have become hugely excited at the possibility that she could well make a return to some form of fighting discipline.

They have shared frenzied reactions to her social media activity, with one writing: “Is this for a UFC comeback?”

Another wrote: “Go on please do it, come back and relight women’s UFC again.”

A fan continued the pleas: “I wish you come back to WWE and beat Rhea Replay and Shayna Baszler.”

Another even suggested: “WWE!? WRESTLEMANIA!? RETURN?”

Others were simply happy to see her return, with one adding: Your my inspiration.

“I’m not going to lie, I started training when I watched your fights for the first time.

“So great to have you back at the gym! You’re a role model for all athletes. Keep killing it, champ!”

While a final viewer even made a wish, concluding: “I wish you would be champion after your greatest return Ronda.”

Rousey in her heyday was a frightening opposition but her UFC career took a turn for the worse after she was beaten by Holly Holm.

She took a hiatus from MMA before returning in her final bow against Amanda Nunes, a fight which saw her beaten in 2016.

But she was a roaring success in the WWE ring, and is still a notorious superstar in the fighting world.

Unfortunately last year, Rousey insisted for health reasons after repeated concussions that for now it wouldn’t be plausible to ever make a full UFC comeback.

She said: “Every couple years the same rumour comes out.

“But it’s not happening. I’m not neurologically fit to compete anymore at the highest level. I just can’t.

“Then I got into MMA, I had already had dozens of concussions that I trained through. Like, not even stopped for. So that was about a decade of having concussion symptoms more often than not.

“So when I got into MMA, I was playing a game of zero errors. Then it got to the point where I was fighting more often than anybody.

“I had more outside of fighting responsibilities than anybody, and it just got to be lighter and lighter hits were hurting me more and more and more.

“I got to a point where I couldn’t take a jab without getting dazed, without getting concussion symptoms.

“It just got to a point where it wasn’t safe for me to fight anymore. I just couldn’t continue to fight at that higher level.”
