Barcelona will be seeking to extend their eight-match La Liga winning streak when they host local rivals Girona at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Sunday.

The Catalan team’s excellent run of league form has seen them take control of the La Liga title race. They now hold a three point lead over second place Real Madrid.

Barcelona vs Girona predictions

Barcelona sit top of La Liga with 63 points from 28 matches. They have won 20, drawn three and lost five.

Barca are also the highest scorers in the league with 78 goals, they have scored 19 more than their closest rivals Real Madrid.

The Catalans’ mid-season blip now seems to be well and truly in the past. Not only have they won eight in a row in La Liga, they have also won nine of their last ten.

Hansi Flick’s team were in action as recently as last Thursday. A 3-0 win over Osasuna in their rearranged fixture was their fifth straight win in all competitions.

Goals from Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski sealed the win and ensured that the league leaders hit the ground running after the latest international break.

Girona started the match week 13th in the table with 34 points from 28 matches. The Catalans have been in poor form in recent weeks, with no wins in their last six, and just one in their previous nine.

There is some light at the end of the tunnel for head coach Michel’s team. The White and Reds are on a run of three draws.

A three match losing streak was broken with a 2-2 draw at home to Celta on Matchday 26. That point was backed up with a 1-1 draw away to Espanyol on Matchday 27.

Then on Matchday 28 an improving Valencia then held the Catalans to a third successive stalemate.

Diego Lopez put Valencia into a 1-0 lead after 58 minutes. But Girona hit back in front of their home fans, with Cristhian Stuani coming off the bench to equalise on 64 minutes and ensure Michel’s team went into the international break three matches unbeaten.

Albeit, three matches without a win.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Stuttgart betting tips

Barcelona are flying at the moment, and although Girona have stopped the rot, their form is in direct contrast to that of Hansi Flick’s team. Our match betting tips are below:

Barcelona to win and BTTS

Barcelona has a fixture pile up on the horizon. Furthermore, this is already their second match back from the international break.

Despite Girona being the fresher of the two teams, and Barca potentially having one eye on upcoming fixtures, it is simply impossible to back against the hosts in their current form.

Barcelona is 2/9 to win in the 90 minutes betting market. The Catalans are playing their second game in four days, so we will take fatigue into account and give Girona a goal.

A win for Barca with both teams to score pays 11/8 with SBK and that looks a good bet to us.

⚽ Back Barca to win and yes in both teams to score at 11/8 with SBK ⚽

Barcelona to score over 2.5 goals

Barca have scored 39 goals in 13 home league matches this season.

They have won 4-0 and 3-0 in their two most recent home matches, and they also put four past Atletico – who have the best defense in the league – in their most recent road trip.

Barcelona have scored 11 in their last three matches. They are red hot at the moment. Furthermore, there seems to be more players chipping in with goals.

Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo both joined Robert Lewandowski on the scoresheet against Osasuna on Thursday.

Whoever plays, Barcelona still scores plenty of goals. Back that run to continue against Girona.

Robert Lewandowski to score anytime

Barca’s leading scorer Robert Lewandowski is in top form again. His return to goal scoring form has coincided with his team’s winning run in recent weeks.

Lewandowski has scored in seven of his last eight matches. The striker now has 23 goals in 27 league matches this season.

Furthermore, Lewandowski has scored in his last four. He even managed a goal in the 22 minutes he was on the pitch against Osasuna on Thursday.

The Pole has already been rotated, so we would expect to see him return to the starting line up against Girona.

We were slightly surprised to see him at odds of 8/11 to score anytime given his recent form, he has shorter odds elsewhere. Snap it up whilst it lasts.
