Barcelona vs Las Palmas predictions
Barcelona beat Brest in the Champions League this week, running out 3-0 winners to take another step closer to the round of 16.
With three rounds of fixtures remaining, Barcelona are well positioned to secure the top-eight finish that would allow them to bypass the knockout phase play-offs.
Hansi Flick’s side rank third in the 36-team standings with 12 points to their name; only Liverpool and Inter have amassed more. Barcelona face a tricky trip to Borussia Dortmund next, before meetings with Benfica and Atalanta in January.
None of those matches will be easy, but you would rather be in Barcelona’s position than Real Madrid’s after the latter dropped to 24th following a 2-0 defeat by Liverpool on Wednesday.
That is also true in La Liga, but the case is not as clear as it was at the beginning of November. After a 1-0 defeat by Real Sociedad and a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo, Barcelona have opened the door to both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
To be clear, Barcelona remain the favourites for the title. They have played the best football this term and are ahead of schedule in Flick’s first season at the helm.
But they have been a little careless in their last two games. A narrow loss to Real Sociedad is the sort of result that can happen, but Flick was understandably critical of his team when they dropped two points against Celta Vigo last time out.
The red card shown to Marc Casado clearly did not help, but Barcelona had a two-goal lead with only eight minutes of regulation time left to play. They should have held out for the win.
“With 0-2 in our favour and with the red card, we should have defended better than we did,” Flick said. “We always want to play and attack, but sometimes it’s enough to control the ball and defend well.”
Barcelona’s lead at the summit of the standings has been trimmed to four points, while Madrid have a game in hand. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are not clicking right now, but they may well come good at some point. Barcelona cannot afford to continue giving their arch-rivals a helping hand.

Barcelona vs Las Palmas betting tips
Barcelona need to get their La Liga title bid back on track when they face Las Palmas this weekend.
Barcelona -2 handicap
Las Palmas endured a dismal start to the season, failing to win any of their first nine La Liga assignments.
That led to a change in the dugout, as Diego Martinez replaced Luis Carrion. He immediately oversaw back-to-back victories, lifting the mood in the biggest city in Gran Canaria.
A 3-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano before the November international break lifted Las Palmas out of the relegation zone, although they were edged out 3-2 by Real Mallorca last weekend.

Yet for all that Las Palmas have undoubtedly improved under Martinez, they will struggle to avoid defeat this weekend.
Barcelona have won eight out of eight at home in all competitions this term, while five of those victories came by a three-goal margin or more.
Tip Barcelona with a -2 handicap at 39/40 with VBET
Over 1.5 goals in the first half
Barcelona fans are understandably desperate to get back to the Camp Nou as quickly as possible, but as the above statistics demonstrate, they are not exactly struggling in Montjuic.
Barcelona tend to get out of the blocks quickly when they are playing in front of their own supporters.
For instance, in their last home game in the league, they were 3-0 up against local rivals Espanyol with 31 minutes on the clock.
Barcelona have scored 20 goals in the first half this season. Remarkably, that is more than 13 teams have managed overall.
The evidence of recent weeks suggests this game will not be a slow burner.

Robert Lewandowski to score two goals or more
What a season Robert Lewandowski is having. The Poland international might be 36 years old these days, but he remains one of the deadliest strikers in world football.
No games have been played in December yet and Lewandowski is already on 22 goals for the campaign. He sits at the top of the scoring charts in La Liga with 15 and top of the rankings in the Champions League with seven.
The Barcelona man keeps himself in excellent condition, so he is still able to play the vast majority of matches for club and country (although he did not feature for Poland in the recent international pause).
Lewandowski notched a brace in the 3-0 defeat of Brest in midweek. That was the eighth time this term he has scored at least two goals in a game.
Watch out Las Palmas.
