Barcelona vs Osasuna predictions
Barcelona have the chance to move three points clear at the top of La Liga on Thursday – but they are not very happy about it.
This game against Osasuna was originally scheduled for March 8, but the tragic death of Barcelona doctor Carles Minarro Garcia just hours before kick-off forced its postponement.
Fixture congestion is a massive problem right across Europe and Spain is no exception. With Barcelona still in the Champions League and the Copa del Rey, there were not many slots available for the rearranged game. The authorities therefore chose to squeeze it in on Thursday.
Barcelona are furious with that decision, which both they and Osasuna appealed. They reportedly pointed towards four possible alternative dates, only to see the original choice upheld.
There is a good reason why Barca are unhappy. The international break did not officially end until Tuesday. Hansi Flick’s side have had multiple players away representing their countries in the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals and crucial World Cup qualifiers.
That is particularly problematic for those Barcelona stars who hail from South America. Raphinha and Ronald Araujo, called up by Brazil and Uruguay respectively, have had to undertake long journeys back to Europe after their countries were in action on Tuesday. It is hard to see how either player will be in a position to start against Osasuna.
It is not even an ideal situation for those who play for national teams in UEFA. Spain have just faced the Netherlands in two competitive matches. Barcelona’s representatives may have returned to the camp carrying knocks or signs of fatigue.
Still, the decision has been made and there is no going back now. Barcelona must now park their frustration and concentrate on the task at hand. Giving yourself an excuse ahead of kick-off is a dangerous game.
With all due respect to Osasuna, this is not the most difficult assignment for the La Liga leaders.
Barcelona are playing the team ranked 14th in La Liga and they have home advantage behind them. The circumstances are not perfect, but it would still be a huge surprise if the Catalans did not get the job done.

Barcelona vs Osasuna betting tips
Barcelona resume their La Liga title hunt at home to Osasuna on Thursday night.
Barcelona to win and both teams to score
Osasuna are unlikely to be relegated to the Segunda Division this season, but the job is not done yet.
Six points clear of the drop zone, Vicente Moreno’s men probably require two more wins to be sure of their La Liga status.
This is not a fixture they will have targeted, though. Anything they get away to Barcelona will be a bonus.

It will be tough for Osasuna to avoid defeat. Barca have got their mojo back in La Liga, having won seven in a row since the end of January.
Still, Osasuna can draw some optimism from the fact they have scored in all but one of their last eight league encounters.
Go for Barcelona to win and both teams to score at 7/5 with SBK
Barcelona over 2.5 goals
Rather than feeling sorry for themselves regarding the scheduling of this game, Barcelona should aim to take their frustration out on Osasuna.
The Blaugrana possess the sort of attacking firepower that is the envy of the rest of Europe. Even if Raphinha misses out, Barcelona have more than enough talent at their disposal.
A possible front four of Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski is not to be sniffed out. The latter trio were responsible for all four of Barcelona’s goals against Atletico Madrid last time out.
Flick’s team have scored 75 goals in La Liga this term. That works out as 2.78 per game on average.
Osasuna’s defence will have its work cut out on Thursday.
Back Barcelona to score over 2.5 goals at 4/5 with Casumo
Robert Lewandowski to score any time
Lewandowski scored for Poland against Lithuania last Friday, but he asked to be withdrawn late on after suffering a calf injury.
Barcelona were left sweating on his fitness ahead of this clash with Osasuna, but their fans breathed a sigh of relief when Lewandowski was able to feature as a substitute against Malta on Monday.
Barca will not want to risk the Pole if he is not feeling 100 percent, or at least close to it.
At the same time, the competitiveness of the La Liga title race means they must take every game as seriously as possible.
It is therefore worth backing Lewandowski to find the net. If he plays as expected, he is the obvious choice in the anytime scorer market. If he does not, your stake will be returned.
Choose Robert Lewandowski to score any time at 8/11 with Betfred
