Bayer Leverkusen vs Werder Bremen predictions
Wednesday night’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich will have hurt Xabi Alonso. His Leverkusen team doesn’t lose many, so when they do, the defeats really hurt.
Leverkusen sits second in the Bundesliga table. They have 53 points from 24 matches and are eight adrift of leaders Bayern.
This is a dangerous time for the Die Werkself. They have been second best this season. But they need to remain focussed and keep as close to Bayern as they can, just in case there are any slip ups from Vincent Kompany’s team in the run in to the end of the season.
Leverkusen needs to remember that anything other than a Bundesliga title will be regarded as a failure for Bayern, so they need to stay calm and hope for a Bayern wobble.
More dropped points against Werder will play into Bayern’s hands in the race to win the Bundesliga title. But not only that, it will also signal to Bayern that Alonso’s team have thrown in the towel ahead of Tuesday’s second leg.
Werder Bremen are 12th in the Bundesliga on 30 points from 24 matches.
Ole Werner’s team are in their worst form of the season, having lost their previous four Bundesliga matches.
Adding further pressure onto the shoulders of the 36-year-old Werner’s shoulder was Werder’s 2-1 defeat to third-tier Arminia Bielefeld in the DFB-Pokal quarter-final. That loss means Die Grün-Weißen have lost five in a row in all competitions.
Werder’s form seems to have fallen over a cliff in 2025. They were seventh in the table when the Bundesliga resumed after its winter break.
The Green-Whites have won just one league game in nine since the resumption, picking up just five points as they have fallen away from challenging for a European place.
Furthermore, they have conceded 13 goals in their last four in the league, while scoring just twice.
Remaining in the Bundesliga isn’t really an issue. Werder are 13 points clear of 16th place Bochum. But this alarming slide needs to be arrested as soon as possible.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Werder Bremen betting tips
After Wednesday night’s rare defeat, this looks like the ideal game for Xabi Alonso’s team to immediately get back to winning ways. Check out our Leverkusen vs Werder betting tips below:
Leverkusen -1 to beat Werder on the European handicap
In normal circumstances, we would say this looks like a good time to play Leverkusen. But when you look at Werder’s form, you quickly realise it’s the perfect match for the current Bundesliga champions to register three valuable points.
Werder have lost six from nine in the Bundesliga and seven from ten in all competitions. Confidence would appear to be at rock bottom.

Despite Wednesday night’s disappointing loss, Leverkusen is in good form in the league. Xabi Alonso’s team have won their previous two in the Bundesliga by an aggregate of 6-1.
Starting from -1 on the European handicap, Leverkusen would have covered the wager in their last two league matches with a 2-0 win over Holstein Kiel and a 4-1 win over Frankfurt. We are backing them to make it three from three against a Werder team in dire form.
Back Leverkusen to win from -1 on the European handicap at 8/11 with Sky Bet
Leverkusen to score over 2.5 goals
Leverkusen went 180 minutes without a Bundesliga goal with back-to-back 0-0 draws on Matchday 21 and 22.
The latter of those two fixtures was against Bayern Munich, a match in which Leverkusen had 15 attempts on goal to Bayern’s two.
Since the draws, Xabi Alonso’s team have scored six in two. The wins have coincided with Patrik Schick’s return to the team, with the 29-year-old Czech scoring in both fixtures.
Werder have conceded 49 times in 24 Bundesliga matches this season. More recently they conceded three and five in their last two away matches. They also conceded two at home to Wolfsburg last Saturday.
There’s a good chance Die Werkself could fill their boots in this fixture.
Back Leverkusen to score over 2.5 goals at 52/50 with Casumo
Patrik Schick to score anytime
We’ve just mentioned Patrik Schick in our previous betting tip and when you look at his statistics, it’s easy to see why.
Schick played just 14 minutes and one minute in Leverkusen’s two 0-0 draws. Since returning to the team, they have scored six times in two matches.
Okay, the quality of the opponents comes into the equation. But it’s clear that when Schick plays, Leverkusen possess a greater goal threat.
Schick has scored 16 goals in 21 Bundesliga matches this season. This includes two in his last two matches and five in his last seven (which includes the two 0-0 draws he only played a combined 15 minutes in).
It’s hard to believe this wager is available at better than even money. Grab it quickly before it’s gone.
Back Patrik Schick to score anytime at 21/20 with BetMGM
