Bayern Munich have confirmed they are in talks with Eric Dier over a new contract.
It comes after Harry Kane admitted he would ‘love’ Dier to remain at Bayern beyond this summer, though it looked unlikely to happen at the time.

Dier is now one of a trio Bayern players to be discussing contract extensions with Vincent Kompany‘s side – with their current deals due to expire in the summer.
As per transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Bayern director Christoph Freund recently said: “We are in talks with Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane and Eric Dier over new deals.”
That will be music to the ears of talisman Kane, who has also played with the defender at Tottenham and England.
Speaking last month via the Daily Mail, Kane revealed his desire for Dier to stay, saying: “Eric’s been great, he’s been waiting patiently.
“Obviously Dayot [Upamecano] and [Kim] Min-jae have been fantastic this season, so Eric’s just had to bide his time.
“He’s come in the last couple of games and done really, really well, and got two clean sheets so yeah, of course I’d love Eric to stay. I guess that’s between him and the club.
“I haven’t had any conversations with him, so we’ll have to see. He did really well when he played. Eric and I get on very well. But we haven’t talked about his future. That’s a matter between him and the club.”
But now, within a few weeks and some strong performances from the former Spurs defender, Dier is in contention to stay in Germany.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg posted on X: “Concrete talks between FC Bayern and Eric Dier over a new contract until 2026 have begun.
“It has not been finalised yet, but both sides are now very open to an extension.

“As revealed on 14 March, a contract extension for Dier was no longer being ruled out at Bayern, mainly due to his solid performances in recent weeks.”
Kane and Dier have made 390 appearances together for six different sides during their careers.
The duo played alongside each other at Tottenham on 309 occasions, whilst they have shared the pitch for England 37 times.
Dier initially joined the Bundesliga side on loan from Tottenham in January 2024 before the move was made permanent soon after.
The 31-year-old defender has played 38 games for Bayern.
