David Beckham was no stranger to taking risks during his career – but he was more cautious as his son Brooklyn followed in his footsteps.

The eldest child of ex-England captain David and Victoria Beckham has started a new adventure in the high-speed world of motorsport.

The 26-year-old has tried his hand at various ventures from a stint in the Arsenal academy to photography, modelling and even cooking.

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham is now bidding to become ‘Golden Wheels’ after taking to the track inside the world of Formula E racing.

The Londoner has grown up around fast cars all his life, with his Spice Girl mum driving him to school in a Rolls-Royce and his dad renowned for splashing out on flashy motors during his playing days.

Brooklyn himself has a $500,000 modified custom retro blue convertible Jaguar and a vintage Mustang in his garage.

Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT as he takes part in Formula E’s Evo Sessions at the Miami International Autodrome, he did still credit David’s Audi RS6 with tipping the scales between which of the two has the better collection.

However, Brooklyn has now taken the family passion to a whole different level as one of 11 famous faces undergoing intense training to compete in the GEN3 Evo — the world’s fastest electric race car.

Capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.82 seconds, it’s 30 per cent quicker off the mark than a current Formula 1 car.

Brooklyn admitted to talkSPORT that the level of speed and intensity even led his motor-mad father to issue a word of warning.

He said: “It’s something that me and my dad have bonded over my whole life.

“We’re both into cars, both into racing and he was just like, you know have fun but be careful. That’s kind of what he said to me.”

The Beckhams are already synonymous with Miami, with Manchester United legend David owning Major League Soccer side Inter Miami.

The 49-year-old has also visited the Autodrome before, having played football with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc ahead of the 2022 Miami GP.

Brooklyn has now thrown down the gauntlet between the two if his dad decides to return to the track for a sequel to FE’s Evo Sessions.

He added to talkSPORT: “I’m not sure [if we can get David involved]. I think you know the times when I have done a bit of racing have been with him in the countryside of England.

“We’ve been to a track a few times together and you know, he just really enjoys it. I’m sure he would love this.”

Who normally wins? “Me… we’re very similar. So sometimes he wins, Sometimes I win – we kind of trade-off.”

Brooklyn has known friend of the family Lewis Hamilton ‘for a while’

Brooklyn’s stint as a youngster in the Arsenal academy gave him an insight into the demanding levels of his dad’s football training.

In preparation for his high-stakes track event this week, he needed simulator sessions, physical conditioning, driver coaching, engineering briefings, and hardware customisation to prove he could cut it among motorsport’s elite.

Fortunately, Brooklyn has two of the best in the business to lean on – Formula E star Mitch Evans, and Formula 1 icon Lewis Hamilton.

On the difference in training between football and racing, he told talkSPORT: “It’s a lot different. Obviously, like you said they train their neck strength and I’ve seen some videos of like Lewis saying that he does a lot of squats.

“Yes, I guess it’s a lot about your neck and a lot about your bum, I guess – in the last few weeks I’ve definitely added a few squats into into my gym routine.”
