England Test captain Ben Stokes has revealed that his family home in the North East has been robbed by burglars.
In a post on his X account, Stokes revealed that the people in question broke into his Castle Eden house while his wife and two children were in the property.

The Durham all-rounder states that jewellery and personal items with ‘real sentimental value’ have been taken.
He calls those items ‘irreplaceable’, and he has asked for the public’s help in finding those responsible.
Stokes specifically points out this has nothing to do with getting the items back, he simply wants the perpetrators caught.
The incident happened while the England captain was away with Brendon McCullum and co on the recent tour of Pakistan.
In a lengthy post, Stokes stated that his family home was burgled on Thursday, October 17.
At that exact point, the England captain was on the other side of the world with the rest of his teammates playing Pakistan.
The full statement from Stokes reads as follows.
“On the evening of Thursday 17th October a number of masked people burgled my home in the Castle Eden area in the North East.
“They escaped with jewellery, other valuables and a good deal of personal items. Many of those items have real sentimental value for me and my family. They are irreplaceable.
“This is an appeal for any help in finding these people who carried out this act.
“By far the worst thing about this crime is that it was carried out whilst my wife and 2 young children were in the house. Thankfully, none of my family came to any physical harm. Understandably, however, the experience has had an impact on their emotional and mental state. All we can think about is how much worse this situation could have been.
“I am releasing photographs of some of the stolen items – which I hope may be easily identified – in the hope that we can find the people who are responsible for this.
“Although we have lost cherished possessions, to be clear, my sole motivation in sharing these photographs is not the recovery of material items. It is to catch the people who did this.
“Please come forward and contact Durham Constabulary on 101 quoting crime reference CRI00575927 if you think that you have any relevant information.
“Finally, I want to say thank you to the police service. Both now and whilst I was away in Pakistan, their support for my family has been outstanding. They continue to work incredibly hard in trying to find these people.”
Stokes’ wife Clare was in the house with their two children at the time of the incidentAFP
Thankfully, Stokes’ family were unharmed after this horrible incident, and the search for those responsible goes on.
The incident happened in the middle of England’s second Test against Pakistan in Multan.
The match marked Stokes’ return to the side from injury after suffering a hamstring problem in the summer.
That issue ruled him out of England’s incredible victory over Pakistan in the first Test, in which countless records were shattered.
Unfortunately, England lost the remaining two Tests to lose the series, and we now know that Stokes’ family home had been robbed on day three of the second Test.
Despite this happening, he didn’t say anything to the world’s media and still fronted up to answer questions about the team’s performance, when he must have had a thousand thoughts running through his head.
