Ben Whittaker suffered two injuries after falling out of the ring during his fight with Liam Cameron.

Whittaker faced Cameron in a huge clash on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol, but fell out of the ring in a nasty incident which saw him unable to continue and forced to leave the ring in a wheelchair.

The result went to the judges’ scorecards and the contest was declared a draw, but his opponent was furious and accused him of quitting.

His promoter Ben Shalom has now revealed exactly what was wrong with Whittaker, after he was seen with strapping on his ankle at the airport.

“Following the unprecedented incident that ended the match on Saturday night, Ben Whittaker is undergoing further assessments on his neck as a previous injury was aggravated by the fall,” Shalom told Sky Sports.

“He also experienced an ankle sprain and will begin a rehab process as soon as he is cleared by doctors and is determined to be back in the ring as soon as possible.”

Some in the boxing world have questioned whether Whittaker ‘quit’ despite the star receiving treatment in the ring.

The fight was extremely even up until the fight was prematurely halted, with the bright young talent struggling to deal with Cameron’s work rate.

Whittaker unfortunately left in a wheelchair after being unable to walk on his right leg.

The British light-heavyweight then punched a hole in his dressing room wall after being left frustrated with the outcome.

Cameron, who was not at all sympathetic with his rival, insisted he had done a job on the favourite.

“From the second round he was breathing so heavily, he spat his gumshield out,” he said during an appearance on talkSPORT Drive.

“He dragged me on to the rope, you can see him flick his head back, He flipped me on to his next, he was exhausted.

“I hit him with a body shot and it really took it out of him. He was exhausted.

“He 100 per cent quit of course he did. I just couldn’t believe all what was going on.

“There was a game plan to slowly break him down. He was calling me slow and saying my body was like a potato, and it’s not looking good for him now.

“I feel like I’ve ruined his persona and career. He said he was going to make me a meme and now he’s the meme.”

It is now likely that a rematch will be declared between the pair once ‘The Surgeon’ has recovered from his injuries.

That will likely take place in 2025 and will see ‘Benzo’ needing to pick up a win to continue progress in his career.

If he is unable to beat Cameron, the trajectory of his career could well take a brief blip.

It was a night of injuries in Riyadh, with Whittaker’s stablemate Frazer Clarke also left badly injured.

The heavyweight was knocked out in his rematch with Fabio Wardley, and was left with a huge dent in the side of his head.

He has since had surgery to repair the damage, which was revealed to be fractures in his jaw.
