Adam Catterall has never seen anything quite like UFC 306.
On Saturday night, the talkSPORT host watched on in amazement as Dana White delivered a truly epic night of fights at the £2billion Sphere in Las Vegas.
UFC 306 broke 4 records and was an overwhelming successGetty
The arena brought the chance for fans and fighters to see once-in-a-lifetime visuals, with incredible images beamed on the 160,000 square-foot screen.
It helped bring to life the event like never before, with stories of the Mexico’s history beamed for fans to watch in between proceedings of the event celebrating the country’s Independence Day.
Catterall has been at most of the UFC’s event over the past few years and he’s usually in on the scene when a big-time boxing show is taking place.
As a well-respected sports reporter, he’s experienced more than his fair share of live sporting events – but the 43-year-old insists UFC 306 topped them all.
“This is without a doubt the best sporting event that I have ever attended in person,” Catterall told talkSPORT MMA from inside the Sphere moments after its first sports show was over.
“Not just fight sports event, sporting event. The level of production on that main card, for entertaining the crowd, was absolutely out of this world.
“The level of detail taken was something truly sensational. Every fight on the main card took place in a different time zone of Mexican history. It was spectacular.
“The first three fights on the main card lived up to the billing because they were also spectacular… the titles fights didn’t live up to expectations as a spectacle, as a fight you want to get excited about.
In the main event, Sean O’Malley lost his bantamweight title in a wrestling-heavy defeat to Merab Dvalishivili, which was marred by a ‘kiss’ and several strange incidents.
Alexa Grasso also surrendered her belt in the co-headliner. The former flyweight champion was out grappled by Valentina Shevchenko in their largely uneventful trilogy bout.

However, the undercard delivered a ‘Fight of the Year’ contender and one of worst cuts in MMA history during Irene Aldana’s clash with Norma Dumont.
Catterall is very rarely lost for words but after watching UFC 306 he wanted to take some time and process the event so he can truly express just how great it was.
He added: “What else can I tell you about this?
“I need to go away and let the dust settle. Just let me get my head around what I’ve just witnessed.
“As I said at the start of this video, it’s the best sporting event that I’ve ever been to and witnessed. From start to finish, it was absolutely magnificent!”
