Beterbiev’s form and latest fights

Russian-born knockout artist Artur Beterbiev travels from his Canadian base with a fearsome unbeaten record as a professional fighter.

The 39-year-old has beaten each of his previous 20 opponents inside the distance, making him boxing’s most destructive puncher. His raw power and aggression have ensured an opponent has never gone the 12-round distance. Will he add Bivol’s scalp to his belt?

Beterbiev was last in action when dismantling popular British fighter Callum Smith on a show in Canada back in January. Mundo took Saul Alvarez to a decision in Texas four years ago at super middleweight but failed to reach the end of round seven against Artur, who now targets the biggest win of his career on an explosive night of action.

Bivol’s form and latest fights

Dmitry Bivol arrives at the Kingdom Arena boasting an unblemished 23-fight record, and he’s currently ranked number one in the fiercely competitive light heavyweight division.

He doesn’t bring the same concussive power as his opponent, but Bivol is certainly no slouch in the power department, scoring his most recent win without the help of the judges.

The 33-year-old based in California dealt with Malik Zinad in impressive fashion. He sent his opponent to the canvas in the opening round with a perfectly timed hook, which set the pace for the contest. Bivol won that fight at Saturday’s venue in round six, with Zinad finally being put out of his misery by referee Howard Foster.

Bivol may start on the back of an eye-catching stoppage win, but that was his first inside the distance victory in ten bouts, a run stretching back to 2018 when stopping Sullivan Barrera in round 12.

He’s not registered an early win since 2017, and that will be at the forefront of fight fans’ minds when making their predictions on the outcome of Saturday’s super fight.

Beterbiev vs Bivol betting tips

We’ve now arrived at the most important part of my Beterbiev vs. Bivol preview when I offer my big-fight predictions and betting odds. As you can see from the stats and form of both men, Saturday will be a clash of power versus skill, but which will come out on top?

Will Beterbiev use his earth-shattering power to rule the light heavyweight division? Will Beterbiev call on his polished boxing skills to remain at the top of the category?

Here are markets and odds from the best boxing bookies in the UK

Over 10.5 rounds @ 1/2

Many fight fans will tune into Saturday’s headliner expecting to see an early knockout, but I prefer to follow the stats and back the bout to go beyond ten rounds. Beterbiev is a knockout artist, and we know he’ll aim to get Bivol out of there early, but he won’t be foolish enough to throw caution to the wind against an elite-level opponent.

Five of Artur’s last six outings have gone at least seven rounds, and there are a couple of ten-round stoppage wins in there. Back over 10.5 in the total rounds market at bet365 and get odds of 1/2, which is good enough for your accumulators.

When playing the total rounds market, it doesn’t matter which fighter wins; as long as the contest lasts at least 10.5 rounds, you’ll bank a profit.

Bet on the fight to have over 10.5 rounds at 1/2 with bet365

Bivol on points @ 6/5

I’ll now climb down from the fence and pick a winner in Saturday’s mammoth fight in Saudi Arabia. I’m throwing my support behind Bivol, and there are a few reasons for that call. Yes, it’s easy to like Beterbiev with his 100% knockout ratio and aggressive style, but Bivol is a fantastic boxer, has a better jab, is taller, is younger, and boasts more experience. He’s also proven he can go the championship distance more than once.

Bivol has an impressive boxing IQ and he didn’t reach the top of the division by going toe-to-toe with big-punchers. He’ll use his boxing skills to score off his razor-sharp jab in the early exchanges and build up a lead on the scorecards. He won’t get things all his own way on Saturday, but knows what it takes to defeat stronger opponents and has the tools to get the job done.
