Betfred is a legendary bookmaker any seasoned punter will recognise.

It was established by Fred Done in 1967, making it one of the oldest companies in the industry. However, Betfred also operates an online betting site, allowing punters like me to bet on their favourite sports from the comfort of their homes.

Check out the main Betfred offer

Today, I’m looking into the reasons that make Betfred one of the top online bookmakers in the UK. I’m testing everything I need to know, including bonuses, payment methods, betting markets, and innovative resources. Read my Betfred review to learn if signing up at this betting site is worth it.

Things I love about Betfred

Betfred stands out to me because of its stellar reputation. With its valid gambling license and decades of experience, this bookie has earned my trust in the betting industry. Moreover, it offers enticing bonuses and cutting-edge betting resources.

Here’s what caught my attention:

  • Iconic bookmaker with over 55 years of experience
  • Free bets and other regular promotions
  • Innovative features, like bet builder cash out

Things to improve at Betfred

While I find Betfred to be an excellent choice for UK punters, there are still a few areas where I think it could improve. For instance, the bookmaker offers only a handful of payment options, such as VISA, Mastercard, and PayPal. Additionally, its live streaming feature is limited, available only on select events.

  • The payment method selection is limited
  • Live streaming is only available on select events

Latest Betfred offers and bonuses for sports

I couldn’t review Betfred without going through the operator’s offers and bonuses. The site has an extensive selection of bonuses, including but not limited to free bets, money-back offers, and accumulator boosters. Stick with me to learn how these promotions work:

Welcome bonus

In my opinion, Betfred’s welcome bonus is pretty straightforward – bet £10 and you’ll get £50 in free bets. To be eligible for this offer, you must deposit using a debit card and place a bet of at least £10. The qualifying bet must be settled within seven days after signing up.

Cashed-out bets don’t qualify for the welcome bonus. Free bets can be used on any market and selected games, respectively, and expire seven days after being credited to your account. This offer can only be claimed once per address, IP, or mobile device.

Accumulator bonuses

One of my favourite ways to boost accumulators at Betfred is the Acca Flex bonus, which improves your winnings by up to 100%. The boost percentage varies according to the number of legs – e.g. a five-leg acca gets a 2.5% boost, and an acca with 12 or more selections gets a 50% boost.

Betfred will also refund your stake up to £10 if your acca loses by one selection. The Acca Flex promotion is only compatible with football bets such as match result, both teams to score, and over/under. Free bets and cashed-out bets bets don’t qualify for the bonus.

Get up to 100% in bonuses on winning football accas!

Football Accumulators (5+ legs). All markets. Min odds 1/2 per leg. 2.5%-100% cash bonus if all selections win. £10 max refund if 1 leg loses. Paid within 24hrs of bet settlement. No Cash Out bets. T&Cs Apply.

Offers by sports

What I found excellent about Betfred is that punters can claim bonuses for specific sports, such as horse racing, American football, and greyhound racing. Here are some of my favourite offers available at this bookmaker:

Horse and greyhound racing

At Betfred, I’ve found several horse racing bonuses that I really like. Let’s start with money-back free bets: The bookmaker will refund your stake as a free bet if your selected horse finishes in second or third. The maximum refund is limited to £10, and free bets are valid for seven days. This bonus is only compatible with select events.

Then, there’s the Super Extra Place Races bonus. Occasionally, the site will pay additional places on select events. If your horse finishes in one of the extra places, your bet will be paid at odds 1.2 (1/5). The offer is only compatible with each-way single or multiple bets.

Last but not least, the Lucky Bonus. Punters who place a Lucky 15, 31, 63, Canadian, Heinz, or Yankee win or each-way bet on horse racing, greyhound racing, or virtual racing will get a boost of up to 25% if their selections win. The bonus is only valid if all contestants run.

Football

At Betfred, I’ve discovered they offer double or triple the odds on events featured in the Double Delight and Hat-Trick Heaven promotions. To be eligible for this bonus you must place a first goalscorer bet on select events.

If the player scores two or three goals, you’ll get double or triple the winnings, respectively. Goals scored in the extra time and own goals don’t count. This is more than plenty to be called one of the best football betting sites.

American football

Do you enjoy betting on the NFL? If so, hear me out. Betfred offers acca insurance for anytime touchdown bets with five or more legs. If you lose your bet by one event, the bookmaker will give you a refund as a free bet, up to a maximum of £20. This insurance bonus isn’t compatible with other markets.

Here’s how you can register on mobile devices:

  2. Click “Register” to create your account.
  3. Enter the information required, such as your name, email, and address.

You shouldn’t have issues placing bets at this bookie. You can follow the steps below if you’re unsure how to get started:

  1. Head to the sports betting section.
  2. Select a sport or a competition from the list.
  3. Look through the events and markets available.
  4. Click on a market to add it to your betslip.
  5. Select your stake once you’re confident with your picks.
  6. Click “Place Bet” to confirm your wager.

How to get the most out of live streaming with Betfred

Betfred offers punters the chance to stream their favourite sports, including golf, tennis, basketball, and cricket. To get started, visit the in-play betting section, press “Watch Live”, and click one of the tabs – “Watch Live Now” or “Upcoming”.

I’ve noticed that the selection of competitions is somewhat limited. However, I can still enjoy some popular leagues like the Turkish and Greek basketball leagues, as well as tournaments such as the Cricket World Cup.

How to claim your bonus

You need to use the code BETFRED50 to claim Betfred’s welcome bonus. All you have to do is register for an account and meet the requirements – i.e. placing a bet of £10 or more on evens or over within seven days of registering.

Regular promotions follow the same rule: you’re eligible for the promotion if your qualifying bet meets the bookmaker’s requirements.

Betfred payment methods

Betfred accepts popular banking options, including VISA and Mastercard debit, Skrill, PayPal, and paysafecard. All transactions are processed instantly for your convenience. Please note you must verify your account before depositing at the bookmaker.

Betfred withdrawal options

The bookmaker allows you to withdraw with the same method used to deposit, except for paysafecard. The minimum withdrawal is £5. You can contact support if you’d like to request a withdrawal under this amount.

In my experience, Betfred is a fast withdrawal betting site as the withdrawals are processed within 48 hours after being requested. However, it can take a few more days until the funds are credited to your account, especially if you withdraw via debit card. E-wallet transactions are credited instantly.

Betfred minimum deposit

Betfred has a minimum deposit of £5 for all payment methods, which is lower than most online bookmakers in the UK.

How to use the cash-out feature

At Betfred, I’ve found a top-rated feature: cash out. You can use this resource at cash out betting sites to settle your bets earlier, allowing them to limit their losses or secure part of their winnings.

To cash out, all you have to do is check your active bets. If your bet slip has a cash-out symbol, that means you can settle your bet. Cash-out is always available on specific events, such as UK and Irish racing.

However, it’s important to remember that the cash-out feature can’t be used with free bets. In addition, cashing out a qualifying wager automatically voids any free bet bonuses you might be eligible for.

Does Betfred offer free bets?

Yes. Betfred has several free bet offers, the most common being the welcome bonus that rewards you with £50 in free bets. You’ll also find money-back bonuses that give you free bets if you lose your wager, and weekly free bets for greyhound racing.

Betfred mobile app

In my experience, Betfred’s mobile app, like all the best betting apps, functions quite effectively. However, I’ve encountered some issues with the mobile version of the application.

On older versions of the app or older devices the app seems to be crashing often.

Betfred has released multiple versions since the issue first started, and it seems that the update has impacted the app positively and they have addressed many of the issues that bettors used to have.
