Big Ugandan legion competing in 2025 Rwanda Golf Open

A couple of Ugandan golfers (gross and professionals) are competing in the 2025 Rwanda Golf Open at the Kigali Golf Resort and Villas.

Some of the country’s top gross male players in action include the reigning Uganda Open amateur champion Joseph Reagan Akena, Joseph Cwinya-ai, Peter Tumusiime, Ibrahim Bagalana, Abdul Kakeeto and Joseph Kasozi.

There are four female golfers as Peace Kabasweka, Meron Kyomugisha, Lillian Koowe and Martha Babirye.

Professionals:

The professionals in action from Uganda are Ronald Rugumayo, Abraham Ainamani, David Kamulindwa, Davis Kato, Henry Lujja, Phillip Kasozi, Ronald Otile, Tadeo Rodell Gaita, Grace Kasango and Vincent Byamukama.

Other countries:

The host country (Rwanda) has Celestin Nsanzuwera, Aloys Nsabimana, Emille Nshimiyumuremyi, Aloys Nsabimana and Oliver Munyaneza.

The Kenyan delegation is led by legendary Dismas Indiza, Hebson Kutwa, Richard Ainley, Muthai Kibugu, Greg Snow, David Wakhu, Sydney Wemba, Eick Ooko Obura, Morton Kombai, Bula Bula, Andrew Chologoi, Denis Saikwa, Simon Ngige, Shileen Nanji, Samuel Njoroge and others.

Zimbabwe is other country in contention with Madalitso Muthaiya, Visitor Mapwanya, Nyasha Muyambo, TC Charamba, Liberty Gumisa and others.

Nigeria’s top professional Gift Willy leads the West African representation.

The professional prize money kitty is 50,000 USD (about 183,049,250.00 Ugandan Shillings).

Round one teed off on Wednesday, 12th February 2025.

The cut will be determined after completion of 36 holes on Thursday, 13th February 2025 before the final two rounds.
