Oleksandr Usyk has been issued a new challenge by Anthony Joshua’s bitter rival Jarrell Miller.

Usyk is currently the king of the division having captured the undisputed crown while beating Tyson Fury twice to continue his undefeated record.

The Ukrainian is now 38-years-old and is closing in on the final stages of his career, with just a handful of fights remaining.

He has listed a rematch with Daniel Dubois, and a surprise boxing fight with UFC champion Alex Pereira as two likely options for his final bows.

But Joshua’s famous rival and returning heavyweight Miller believes he is the man that can dethrone ‘The Cat’.

“I think I can beat Usyk,” he said in a surprising take during an interview with ES News.

“Because I’m bigger, I’m stronger, I throw more punches, I’m more aggressive, I’ve got a better chin, I’m more durable than these guys.

“The thing is, I was the most feared heavyweight for many years. My punch output, my stamina, how I come forward.

Frank Warren and these guys always tried to give me last minute fights. Now I’m a free agent, I’m going to prepare myself.

“On a full training camp, I’ll f****** beat Usyk’s a**. One hundred per cent.”

Miller has had a torrid time in the sport, having formed a trash-talking and personal rivalry with Joshua.

The pair were set to meet in June 2019 but Miller wasn’t granted a licence by the New York Commission after failing a drugs test.

He was banned from the sport and his undefeated career was left in tatters, while Andy Ruiz Jr stepped in at short notice and upset AJ.

‘Big Baby’ has since returned losing to Daniel Dubois in December 2013 before a controversial draw himself with Ruiz Jr.

But it appears highly unlikely that he will land a shot at Usyk given he seems to have set his plan in stone.

Dubois instead appears to be in pole position to land a shot at the champion, after his bout with Joseph Parker collapsed.

And the Briton’s trainer Don Charles expects progress to be made in the coming weeks.

He told talkSPORT.com: “Yeah he dropped Usyk legitimately but they deemed it to be a low blow.

“It would be great if they are able to engineer the fight and make it happen.

“And Usyk to his credit, he has come out recently and said he wants to fight Daniel Dubois.

“That is what we will probably lean towards. It is a no-brainer. It makes sense. There is history there.

“So we would be relishing the opportunity to have a second go at Usyk.”
