Blackburn vs Middlesbrough prediction
The betting market suggests this is a tough one to call.
And it’s no surprise as these two sides are only separated by five points and have at various points hit both good and bad form this season.
Blackburn are going through a rough patch now though at the worst possible time and don’t seem capable sitting in 11th of getting back into the play-offs.
Boro are much closer and have a chance though just two points off 5th placed Coventry and level on points with the final play-off spot held by West Brom.
Bristol City are close behind on goal difference too but have a tough run-in that could make it a great chance for Middlesbrough to finally get a chance at promotion again.
The Teesside missed out on play-offs last season by four points and failed to make the most of a fourth-placed finish in the 2022/23 campaign when losing to Coventry, who eventually lost to Luton on pens.
Boro will be relishing a chance again even if it means coming up against one of Sheffield United, Leeds or Burnley.
But they have to get there first and need a win away from home where they are just about the favourites.
Blackburn vs Middlesbrough betting tips
It’s encouraging for the visitors that Blackburn have been winless for some time and they will need a big performance for play-off chasing Boro.
Rovers are 12th in the home table of the Championship with 19 games played with six losses and ten wins.
But their home form hasn’t been as solid as it could be recently.
Coupled with their poor away performances (three losses in a row) a draw at home and a loss at home don’t make for encouraging results to back them to win.
Each of their last four losses have been by a single goal though so there’s a strong bet on under 2.5 goals and a Boro win.
