Blacks Power stormed the summit of the 2024-2025 FUFA Big League with a hard-fought 2-1 home win over Gaddafi at the Akii Bua memorial stadium in Lira city on Sunday, 12th January 2025.

Paul Oonyu and Ivan Okello were on target for the Blacks whilst Gaddafi’s skipper Thomas Kakaire scored the visitors’ goal.

Oonyu put the home side ahead just four minutes into the game.

Blacks Power XI Vs Gaddafi

Gaddafi gallantly fought on and got the equalizer through Kakaire on 22 minutes as the opening stanza ended 1-goal apiece.

Okello secured maximum points for Blacks Power with the match winner in the 77th minute to spark wild celebrations.

With 29 points apiece, Blacks Power is top of the table standings since they are superior via head-to-head with Gaddafi.

The West Nile derby in Midigo was won by Calvary, overcoming Onduparaka 1-0 at the Midigo primary school ground.

The victory helped Calvary to climb to third on the table standings with 24 points, five shy from Blacks Power and Gaddafi.

Other matches:

In other duels on the day, Kiyinda Boys lost 1-2 at home to Paidha Black Angels at the Bertham city ground in Kiwenda.

Paidha Black Angels climbed to 6th place with 19 points, same as Kataka who hammered visiting 3-1 Ntugasaze at the Mbale city stadium.

Busoga United won the road, 1-2 at Booma Football Club in Masindi as they aggressively fight against the relegation woes.

In Ntungamo, Kaaro Karungi recorded a 2-1 home win over MYDA at the Kyamate stadium.

Meanwhile, match day 14 will climax on Tuesday, 14th January 2025 when Kigezi Home Boyz takes on Buhimba United Saints at the Kigezi Homeboyz stadium, Kabale.

Three clubs will be promoted to the Uganda Premier League for the 2025-2026 season.

Four clubs will drop off and be relegated to the respective regional leagues.
