2024 CAF Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT):
- Group B: TDS Academy (Tanzania) 2-0 Boni Consilli Girls Vocational School (Uganda)
Uganda’s Boni Consilli Girls Vocational School lost 0-2 to TDS Academy from Tanzania 2-0 in group B of the 2024 CAF Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT) at the Chamazi stadium, Dar-es-Salaam.
Mathias Winfrida and Mary Arone Siyame were on target for the Tanzanian team with both goals coming in the second stanza of the game.
Winfirda got the opener on the hour mark with Siyame sealing the victory with a stoppage time winner.
“We had a decent first half and I am proud of the team. The players showed great character and we shall improve in the second game” David Bbaale, head coach of Boni Consilli Vocational School remarked.
In the next match, Boni Consilli Vocational School takes on Somalia’s Hilaad on Saturday, 11th January 2025.
Their third and final game of the group will come on 14th January 2025 against Burundian opposition, Aigle Noir.
About the GIFT event:
The GIFT championship is a pioneering pilot initiative to promote the development of women’s football across Africa.
The tournament provides a platform to showcase young female footballers, build player capacity and promote women’s football at regional and continental levels. The competition is part of CAF’s strategy to promote gender equality and empower the next generation of female footballers.
CAF has set out to increase participation of girls in football across the continent, encourage MAs and clubs to invest in girls’ football clubs, leagues and Under-17 women’s national teams, and provide a pathway for girls to transition from schools football to competitive football structures.
