Borussia Dortmund vs FC Augsburg predictions

Despite picking up six points from their previous two Bundesliga matches, Borussia Dortmund will still start their Matchday 25 fixture against Augsburg in the bottom half of the table.

Dortmund sit 10th on 35 points from ten matches. They are three points and one place above Saturday’s opponents, with Jess Thorup’s Augsburg on 32 points from their 24 fixtures.

Niko Kovac’s team had seemed to turn the corner in recent weeks. They smashed Union Berlin 6-0 at Signal Iduna on Matchday 23 and then backed that up with a 2-0 win on the road against St. Pauli seven days ago.

Sadly, Dortmund’s improved league form couldn’t be replicated in Europe. They were held to a 1-1 draw at home by LOSC in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Black and Yellow were poor on the night. Kovac’s team only had 43 percent of the possession, with their French opponents (9) also registering more shots at goal than the hosts (7).

The result leaves Niko Kovac in a bit of a conundrum ahead of Saturday’s mid table clash. Does he pick his strongest team in order to beat Augsburg and climb the Bundeslia table?

Or does the former Bayern head coach rotate his squad ahead of Wednesday’s return leg in France?

Dortmund will start the match week six points behind fourth in the table Mainz. And with the fight for European places so tightly contested, it would not be wise for Kovac to take Augsburg lightly.

Augsburg are eight matches unbeaten in the Bundesliga. Their impressive form has seen them pick up 16 points with four wins and four draws. But significantly, Fuggerstädter have won only once in their last five outings.

Augsburg’s unbeaten run started with a 2-0 win away at Union Berlin on Matchday 15. Wins against Werder (2-0) and Hoffenheim (2-1) followed.

There were then three successive draws. That sequence of results ended with a 3-0 win away at Monchengladbach on Matchday 23, with Alexis Claude Maurice scoring a hat-trick.

But the win turned out to be a false dawn as Jess Thorup’s team were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Freiburg on Sunday. The stalemate was Augsburg’s third goalless draw in their previous four matches.

Borussia Dortmund vs FC Augsburg betting tips

Only three points separate the two teams. And with Dortmund facing a Champions League second leg in France on Wednesday, Augsburg will believe this is a good time to be facing the Black and Yellow. Our match betting tips are below:

Dortmund to win and under 3.5 goals

Dortmund may have been second best at times in Europe on Tuesday, but the Black and Yellow have been in good form in the Bundesliga in recent weeks. They have scored eight goals without reply in their previous two matches.

Augsburg don’t lose many. They haven’t tasted defeat in the league since they lost 1-0 to Stuttgart on Matchday 16.

But Jess Thorup’s team haven’t won many in recent weeks either. Furthermore, they have scored just four goals in their last five Bundesliga matches. Throw in their 1-0 quarter-final defeat to Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal, and Fuggerstädter have scored four goals in their last six matches in all competitions.

Dortmund have won seven from 12 at home. Augsburg have lost five from 12 on the road. We are going for Dortmund to sneak a low scoring win.

⚽ Back Dortmund to win and under 3.5 goals at 27/20 with 10bet ⚽

Serhou Guirassy to score anytime

Serhou Guirassy continues to impress for Dortmund. He bagged himself four goals in the 6-0 win over Union Berlin on Matchday 23 and scored his team’s opening goal in the 2-0 win over St. Pauli last weekend.

Guirassy now has 14 goals in 21 Bundesliga matches and a ridiculous ten goals (and three assists) in 11 Champions League outings.

There is the possibility that Niko Kovac may hold him back with Wednesday’s Champions League clash with LOSC in mind.

But if Guirassy starts against Augsburg, back him to score again in his current Bundesliga form.

⚽ Back Serhou Guirassy to score anytime at 11/10 with Tote ⚽

Karim Adeyemi to score anytime

As well as having a goal threat from Serhou Guirassy, Dortmund may also have a second forward coming into good form at the right time in Karim Adeyemi.

The 23-year-old right winger has scored two goals in his last two matches for the Black and Yellow.

He started with his team’s second goal in the win over St. Pauli, and he backed that up with Dortmund’s only goal in the 1-1 draw with LOSC in the Champions League.

Bet365 have Adeyemi at 11/8 to score or assist. But he hasn’t provided an assist since Matchday 5 in the Bundesliga, so why not take a chance on him scoring in his third successive match at the far better odds of 3/1.

⚽ Back Karim Adeyemi to score anytime at 3/1 with bet365 ⚽
