Bosnia vs Germany predictions

Given the high expectations and formidable track record of the Germany national team, it is impossible to say that Euro 2024 was a success given Julian Nagelsmann’s side were knocked out in the quarter-finals.

However, Germany played some of the best football at that tournament and they were only narrowly beaten in the last eight, going down to an extra-time winner scored by eventual champions Spain.

It was clearly a step in the right direction after a tough few years for the Nationalelf, who are now a major force again under the tutelage of the impressive Nagelsmann.

That is not to say the squad is perfect. Toni Kroos was arguably Germany’s most important player right up until his retirement in the summer.

There is no out-and-out centre-forward of the highest quality, while Nagelsmann would no doubt love to have another couple of top-class defenders alongside Antonio Rudiger and Jonathan Tah. Even so,Germany are in a much better place in October 2024 than they were in October 2023.

The Nations League is not as important as the European Championship or the World Cup, but it would still be useful for Germany, who are in danger of losing the winning habit after a decade without major silverware (in our view at least, the 2017 Confederation Cup does not count as that), to collect the prize next summer.

To have a chance of doing so, they must first finish in the top two of their League A group, which contains Hungary and the Netherlands as well as upcoming opponents Bosnia-Herzegovina.

That would send them through to the quarter-finals, after which comes the four-team Finals next June.

Germany kick-started their campaign with a 5-0 thrashing of Hungary last month, with a 2-2 draw with the Netherlands following a few days later.

Nothing can be taken for granted, of course, but it would be a surprise if Germany and the Netherlands did not finish in the top two in this section.

Every team will have played each other once after the first set of fixtures this week, with the Nationalelf widely expected to overcome Bosnia-Herzegovina and move onto seven points at the summit of the standings.

Bosnia vs Germany betting tips

Germany are strong favourites to get the better of Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Nations League.

Germany -2 handicap

Bosnia-Herzegovina won promotion from League B in the last edition of the Nations League, but they look set to struggle at the top level.

They opened up with a 5-2 defeat by the Netherlands, before holding Hungary to a 0-0 draw at home on matchday two.

Even though Bosia will have home advantage behind them on Friday, it is difficult to see them keeping this Germany team at bay.

The Nationalelf scored seven goals in their first two Nations League outings and another comfortable victory is the most likely outcome here.

With the quality available to them, Germany should be able to win by a three-goal margin. Incidentally, a two-goal win would see your stake returned.

Germany to win the first half

Germany won the first half against both Hungary and the Netherlands in September, and Nagelsmann will encourage his team to make another fast start in this one.

Bosnia-Herzegovina will have to be prepared to dig in from minute one, even though they are the home team.

Germany play like a club side under Nagelsmann and that is evident both in and out of possession.

The visitors will press with intensity high up the pitch from the first whistle, and Bosnia will struggle to handle it.

Even if they do not make the breakthrough in the opening exchanges, Germany should be able to establish a lead before half-time of Friday night’s clash in Zenica.

Deniz Undav to score any time

In a definite blow to Germany and a potential one to Arsenal, Kai Havertz has dropped out of the squad after suffering a knee injury.

That is good news for one man, however. Deniz Undav now looks set to get the nod up front against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Undav scored 19 goals in all competitions for Stuttgart last season and he has begun the current campaign in fine form, finding the net four times in six Bundesliga outings.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion man, who only made his Germany debut earlier this year, will be determined to make the most of his chance if he is handed a start this weekend.

Against a Bosnian back line which is anything but watertight, Undav can get his name on the scoresheet.
