Brentford vs Manchester United predictions

Brentford are finishing the season with a flourish. They are four matches unbeaten in the Premier League, sitting 11th in the table on 49 points from 34 matches.

In their most recent outing, Thomas Frank’s team defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the City Ground on Thursday night. Goals from Kevin Schade and Yoane Wissa gave the Bees a shock win over Champions League chasing Forest.

The win followed on from Brentford’s 4-2 win over Brighton on Matchday 33 and back-to-back draws against Chelsea and Arsenal in the two preceding matches.

Manchester United recorded a remarkable 3-0 win over Athletic Club in their Europa League semi-final first leg on Thursday.

A rare Casemiro goal after 30 minutes gave the Red Devils the lead. A red card for Athletic’s Dani Vivian on 35 minutes handed United further momentum. Bruno Fernandes doubled United’s lead from the resulting spot kick.

The Portuguese then put United firmly in the driving seat by adding a third on the stroke of half time. With the second leg to come at Old Trafford, the tie is now United’s to lose.

United’s Europa League form is in direct contrast to their Premier League form.

The Red Devils are having a torrid time domestically. They have 39 points from 34 matches. There is a real possibility that they could finish fourth from bottom.

United are now five without a win in the league. A 96th-minute equaliser from Rasmus Højlund away at Bournemouth last Sunday ended a two-match losing streak.

The sad reality is the equaliser was a positive. A few years, maybe even months ago, such a notion would almost have been laughable.

United’s last league win was away at Leicester on Matchday 29. Goals from Højlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes sealed the three points.

They will look to end their winless league run against the Bees on Sunday. But, Ruben Amorim won’t want to take too many chances with the Europa League second leg on the horizon.

Brentford vs Manchester United betting tips

Manchester United were only marginal favourites to beat Wolves at Old Trafford on Matchday 33. They were the outsiders last weekend away to Bournemouth. The Red Devils are again not the favourites to beat Brentford. The Bees are just 4/7, with United at 4/1. Our match betting tips follow:

Man Utd to win or draw

Manchester United have been good in Europe. But in the Premier League, they have been absolutely appalling.

As we’ve just mentioned, the Red Devils are 4/1 to beat Brentford. That sounds unbelievable.

We know that United will be focusing on next Thursday’s Europa League second leg. But, they will also be buoyed by their remarkable win in Spain.

As tempting as United to win at 4/1 is, we are going for Amorim’s team to win or draw in the double chance market.

Both teams to score

Brentford have only failed to score in two of their previous ten matches. Aston Villa and Chelsea were the opponents.

The Bees have six goals in their last two matches. They are also in good form, having avoided defeat against Chelsea and Arsenal, and defeating another top-five chasing team in Nottingham Forest.

It’s hard to see United shutting the Bees out. But, can we trust United to score? That is the dilemma.

Ruben Amorim’s team are in a strong position in their Europa League tie with Athletic Club. The United boss won’t be under as much pressure to rotate on Sunday.

He also won’t want to finish fourth bottom of the Premier League. And if United carries on in their current trajectory, that is where they will probably end up.

Therefore, we can see Amorim putting out a competitive team on Sunday. And with their confidence high, a bet on the Red Devils scoring is worth the risk.

Bryan Mbeumo to score anytime

Bryan Mbeumo has 18 goals and six assists in 34 Premier League appearances this season. The 25-year-old is being linked with a £50 million move away from Brentford this summer.

Mbeumo went two matches without being involved in a goal in the recent draws with Chelsea and Arsenal. We can forgive him for that.

He ended his mini-drought with two goals and an assist against Brighton. He did draw a blank against Forest on Thursday, but like with the matches against Chelsea and Arsenal, we have to take the opposition into consideration.

Mbeumo knows he is in the shop window. A big money summer move is on the cards, so he will want to finish the season strongly.
