Soltilo Bright Stars FC secured their first win of the season after overcoming hapless Kitara FC on Friday at Kavumba Recreation Centre.
Nelson Ssenkatuka’s lone goal in the first half was the eventual decider of the closely contested game.
Ssenkatuka was at the end of a Paskali Oketcho’s low cross in the 34th minute to tap home from close range.
The game was the first for interim manager Ian Mutenda (the club technical director) who took over following the sacking of Joseph Mutyaba last week.
He made two changes from the team that played against BUL FC, with Ashiraf Mulindi and Cleophas Fiat starting ahead of John Kokas Alou and Alex Mandera.
Kitara’s continued to manifest, failing to find efficiency in the final third. Like it was the case against URA FC, the Royals once again lacked sharpness in front of goal.
Coach Wasswa Bbosa who replaced Brian Ssenyondo two weeks ago has had a torrid start, losing his first two games in charge.
The result lifts Soltilo Bright Stars FC off the base of the table and move to 14th place on six points while Kitara FC drop to second from bottom on 4 points. However, both teams are still in the drop zone.
